Alright Degenerates- I posted a small little snippet a day or so ago about BFT. I wanted to do a bit of DD on BFT but also wanted to highlight something that was brought to my attention by a degenerate gambler. So let me give you my take as a consumer that’s probably spent over $100,000 in transaction fees personally on Paysafe.
This was one of the cheapest and fastest ways to move money around online.
Unlike Stripe this which is against risky business such as CBD and gambling, paysafe is actually one of the leading payment providers in both UK/AUS / Ireland for iGaming.
Big example is William Hill, Bet365, Bwin.
Now why would you want to move money online around as a gambler ?
Well, Visa/MC charge close to 50%->75% more, online casinos = the merchant. They don’t wanna pay that, and in fact put limits on this type of payment processor. (Your visa’s credit cards etc). If a punter deposits / withdraws frequently, the online casino could literally be on the hook for like 20-30% of the turnover throughout the gambler’s period. (This assumes the gambler doesn’t lose all his money per deposit.
Imagine you’re a professional sportsbettor, you’re not loyal to one site. Different spreads / odds are offered on every site, you want to be able to move your money from one to another quickly and cheaply. Arbitrage opportunities do exist in sports betting as bookmakers hedge their books to minimize risk, diff frequencies of bets occur on each sports book; you get the idea.
For recreational punters, it’s simple: some sporting events that are smaller simply don’t exist on one site that exist on another. Eg. Perhaps you using Pinnacle / 10dimes for low spreads on high volume events, but perhaps you want to gamble on live events on bet365 on another day, and bet ponies on Hill.
What if you only have $5000 ? Giant pain in ass to deposit money to each site, paysafe lets you move it around easily.
Should you use visa, you may get blocked from depositing on various sites; Bodog, WHill, Bet365 just to name a few. Withdrawals and clearing deposits with bank transfers or checks takes days-> weeks and gamblers ain’t gonna wait for that shit.
You can also buy prepaid paysafe cards from stores if you don’t wish to use your real credit card; and load that shit up.
One of the biggest markets this is prominent in is South east Asia, they are some of the biggest punters and fucking loving gambling. Looking at you pinoys, Indonesians, Malays. Not everyone wants to fly to Macau to get their rocks off.
As much as this is a play on FinTech, please understand this company has more or less the best Payment service on online gambling globally.

From this chart you can see that there looks to be some favorable multiples that could improve once a deal closes. Also, I'm very bullish on the great Margins as well as the conservative growth. I think Foley along with the growing Igaming undervalues the potential of this company. Just the Draft Kings relationship make me tingle.

The reason I am excited is because IGAMING is just really starting to take off and Paysafe is a first mover with brand new experienced management and very very fair valuations that could pop after a merger.

Over 20k unauthorized transaction on my checking account with TD bank

Hello Reddit,
This is my first time creating a post ever here, and I am desperately looking for help to resolve the issue and advice. My hands are still shaky and I had to call in sick for work 2 days in a row.
Last morning, I got a text message from TD multiple times for fraud alert amount of $500, $600, and $1100. I do not check my bank account as often as I used to since this whole pandemic as I am just working from home basically without much spending.
Anyhow, I logged into my bank account and I see approximately 20k worth of unauthorized transactions (a lot of transactions) for the past 3 weeks on my checking account. TD managed to notify me after all these transactions. I called TD, and they froze the card and I went into branch today to get a replaced debit card.
Apparently majority of transactions were for "online gambling" website based in overseas. I have no clue whether it is legal or illegal to do online gambling in Canada, Ontario but someone used my debit visa card to fund the gambling website(s). The representative did flag all the transactions for disputation, and was told to wait up to 30 days to hear back from them.
I did make police report as well regarding this, and an officer will reach out to me next week to discuss further. Once I get the case #, I am planning to give the case # to bank as well.
My question is.. is there anything else I need to do other than just waiting? This is very frustrating and concerning at the same time that my account is not safe at all and someone could just easily use my card like that.
I do not care whether they catch the person, but I need to know for sure that I get my money back. The rep says that I will get my money back don't worry but according to many cases that are shared online, many got declined for their disputed cases. I am worried sick!
If anyone has an input regarding this, please spare a minute and share with me. Any insights will be very much appreciated.

__Personal Opinion__
I truly believe there is potential for this SPAC, but in no world do I see PSFE being comparable to Square, Stripe or Paypal, for now.
It is important, very important to emphasize that $PSFE is nowhere close the companies i've mentioned. Yes, $PSFE is diversified and has an amazing management team, but they are not there product-wise.
I will be looking out for them to dominate in the Gaming and Gambling world, then ideally in the eCommerce and Crypto sector. I would not, be buying PSFE in hopes to outgrow the 3 companies in the next 5 years, minimum then a re-evaluation can be done once we are there.

Yeah, I have a problem...

Hi everyone, new here. Briefly read through some of the recent posts many of which sound a lot like my own struggle/story.
I'm in my mid 30s and have been losing every dime of my paychecks weekly since I was about 17. It all started with online poker - around the late 90s when sites like PokerStars and PartyPoker started popping up (and not checking I.D. as KYC laws and online gaming regulation wasn't really formed, with poker being a grey area in terms of it's "game of skill" status). Basically back then if you were underage you could just go buy a prepaid visa card from the local store and use that to deposit.
Without realizing consciously that I was starting to develop a pretty expensive habit. I spent most of my late teens and early 20s selling weed and working shitty jobs. The urge to gamble grew and my situation got really dark as I began stealing. First it was stuff like borrowing money from friends and girlfriends without thinking or caring about how I would pay them back. Then I began finding stuff around the house I figured I could sell without my parents knowing. Making e-check deposits on gambling sites with an empty bank account.

Once e-check deposits became a thing I basically just ran around opening new bank accounts once one was deep in the red and just ignoring the calls/collection mail. Eventually there were no more banks that I could open an account with. Then one day I found my parents checkbook sitting on the living room table.

In my mind, I could just do a quick $100 deposit, win at least $100 and get it back in-hand before their bank statement came in the mail. Or at worse just act like I didn't know anything about it when I would inevitably be asked about the strange charge. So I play with the $100, end up losing it before I saw any profits and decided, well, we're already in deep shit when they call the transaction company associated with the charge and get the full story.

So I deposit another $200 to remedy the situation...
and then $300... $500... and within 3 days I had made $4700 in charges on their account. A day or two after the deposits kept getting declined I came downstairs with my parents sitting on the sofa, bank statements in hand and said "Son have a seat we need to talk about something". Before I could make it to my seat I was already balling my eyes out. I explained that every deposit was an attempt to fix the previous mistake ect ect and it was really the only time where what I had done and how I was living finally hit as reality.

So fast forward 15 years later and here I am, still living with my parents. I have no real possessions or hobbies because i've sold everything of value to gamble along the years. Doing food delivery in a car that has 430,000 miles on it, working for companies that allow me to cash out my earnings on a daily basis. Unable to save a simple $2000 for an old beater replacement car before the one I have takes a dump on me. I literally have less than $500 to my name and I just got my stimulus money 4 days ago. I don't know what the hell i'm supposed to do to get on the right track and start making some progress in life. My friends and family have the patience of saints - that and I suppose they just feel bad or basically look down on me. Just last night I deposited $100 for slots and hit a $900 spin... but what do I do? Crank up my bet and watch it all wither away within a couple hours.

As I finish this wall of text I just shrug and tell myself "All I can do is just avoid gambling, avoid the triggers" but i've been here more times than I can even remember. This is painful. I hate it. I feel like a selfish, bored, simple, and unhappy person.

Could you give an opinion about NANO?
I've tried NANO and found the UX simply amazing. It seems to exactly match with the definition of an instant P2P payment system, with sub-second transfer and no fee. Something looking more like the email and probably how cryptocurrencies should always behave.
I also heard that release after release, they achieved +1,000CPS of parallel transactions, which sounds fair in comparison with the mainstream centralized systems (Visa, MasterCard, etc). This is made possible via its "blockchain of blockchain" architecture, making any transaction "independent" from the global network before it is relayed under a proof-of-voting algorithm.
The feeless architecture also integrates a smart anti-spam and adjustable "micro PoW". And the result is rather interesting : 2 million times less energy than the most popular crypto, for 1 trx ! In practice, this preventive measure seems to work effectively by discouraging spammers; There is no "cat & mouse" playing here and therefore, no need to significantly increase the threshold for that "micro-PoW". The simple awareness that it is adjustable made all spammers fleeing.
NANO was totally pre-mined and fairly distributed all around the word. It's supply is fully circulating, with a strong atomicity of holders (whales don't roam as with competitors). NANO seems to have achieved decentralization without having run intensive & useless PoW.In a way, it is also scarcer than Gold, the most famous crypto, diamond, all combined as it is certified having 0% inflation (a proof of burning was released online and audited).The WeNano community keeps growing. I've tried the app and was stunned by the thousands of spots posted on the word map. You simply have to walk around and collect NANO in the range assigned by the "spots" or you can equally distribute some NANO everywhere you want in the world.
Nano seems also a perfect option for gambling and would be fit for the extremely fast and probably micro-payments requirements of IoT.
The only bottlenecks I'm aware of is marketing, but is is rapidly changing with the growing community (tweets rising exponentially , Reddit, etc) and their WeNano app, a real game changer.
I also hear about "network effect" of the no 1 crypto, but this can't last forever, would you have an even more scarce crypto.. not talking about more efficient e-cash.
Last comment : I also found that the crypto world is full of haters for V2.0 revolutionary concepts like NANO. Is it part of a desperate attempt from the "old new elites" to protect their "not so decentralized" heavy bags? There are billions centralized out there, with highly concentrated mining too.. is it not a threat to the prosperity of such network, seen from the angle of the majority? Can't NANO be called the currency from "we-the-people"?

Card payment denial and ways to circumvent it

I would like to use this post to start a discussion on a problem that's been affecting certain countries with regards to payment methods that used to work but are now being consistently denied by Genshin Impact.If any other region is experiencing problems feel free to join, I think it's important to keep this up on the subreddit since, using Argentina as an example, the only other place with advice on the issue is a single poll on ualá's website

Which payment methods are affected?-Argentina Mastercard (I've read that visa and visa debit cards are supposed to work, but I'm having problems with a Patagonia Universitaria Visa Debit card)
What exactly is the cause of these problems?-Argentina I've read that the change to 3D Secure has blocked certain cards from working, I've also read that it's caused by a law regarding online gambling passed in 2019
How to solve/bypass the issue?
- General Using paypal to bypass the system
- PC Using Memu emulator to access google playstore on pc (comment here)
- Argentina I haven't found anyway to use Argentinian mastercard (including Mercadopago and Ualá), but some users have stated that Patagonia Visa Debit and Brubank cards are still working (although my Patagonia Universitaria is having issues this week). Paypal doesn't work since in Argentina it requires using Nube to charge and Nube isn't functioning due to quarantine

How to Start Investing in The Stock Market? Start Investing NOW! Challenge Portfolio? [Ep.11][02-07]

Welcome everyone to another post of the 0 to Hero Portfolio Challenge, if this your first time reading my post be sure to hit the follow button and subscribe to my YouTube channel to stay up to date with how the challenge is going and also get the latest news, updates & predictions as I post almost every day!
So, last week, the challenge portfolio value was $4369. This week the portfolio grew by more than 7% as it currently stands at almost $4700. We had a terrific week posting gains in all 5 trading days with 2 of the 3 best days since starting the portfolio and gaining more than 0.7% in all 5 days.
We finished the month of January with a gain of almost 3.6% or $150 while right now after a great start to February, we are up more than the last 2 months in 2020 as the portfolio has gained more than 11% or nearly $500.
I didn’t make a single change in the portfolio this week, as I didn’t add any new positions with the opened positions from last week doing very well, while also not closing any additional trades as I keep the portfolio in a risk-on position.
Here [ 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 ] is my current portfolio composition in order of my biggest gainers by percentage, as the best performing companies Tilray, PayPal & Penn Gaming are up huge while Pinterest rose after great earnings and Disney continues to be one of the best performers as they are one of my favorite re-opening stocks.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin also spiked up recently back to the 40k mark, while my new addition Twilio is up already almost 15% with Google also spiking on better-than-expected results.
So, most of the tech names have been very profitable just like Microsoft, Salesforce, Amazon and the newly added Zscaler, while some more value plays like Morgan Stanley and my new ETF positions from the Asian markets have moved in positive territory.
But I do also have some losing positions with Qualcomm losing ground on soft expectations for 2021, while my biggest losers are some of the more volatile stocks like Lemonade, Palantir, BioNano Genomics alongside the heavily hit Coca-Cola.
So, I had so many stocks gaining more than 5% in the past week as I have decided to only show the ones that gained more than 15% this week, with the biggest gainer this week being Tilray, rising by more than 40% while gambling names like DraftKings, Wynn Resorts & PENN National Gaming also gained big this week.
We also saw materials doing very well this week, with Freeport gaining almost 18% while many hot stocks like Bilibili, UBER & PayPal rose big alongside E-commerce and new Social Media platforms like ETSY and Pinterest also.
The only stock that lost more than 5% was Qualcomm, as they suffered despite good earnings results, as the outlook for 2021 was pretty soft, but I still like the company and I am not planning on selling right now.
I have currently made 175 trades in this portfolio with almost 70% of them being profitable, with an average profit of over 20% and an average loss of 7%.
The biggest values right now in my portfolio are being hold by Apple, Disney & Google, as I only have 8 stocks over 2% of my portfolio right now, with Bitcoin also near this level.
Let’s also take a quick look at my current diversification, as my top 3 sectors are Technology, Communications Services and Consumer Discretionary, with my biggest industry allocations being to Entertainment & Online Retail.
Also, HERE is my current targeted portfolio, just a reminder you can find the link to this full spreadsheet and my price targets for different companies down in the description. So, my top 2 picks are Apple & Disney as I also have a lot of companies on my watchlist.

So, You Want to Apply to a Canadian University.

Hey, this post is mostly a write-up from my experiences applying to Canadian universities as an American student. I know a few people are looking at them, it'll be STEM-focused since that's what I know the most about but I do know a little about other stuff. Can't really cover visa issues here, didn't have to deal with it, but Canada is a little more welcoming to internationals than the US is. I have personal experience with Waterloo, Toronto and to a lesser extent UBC and McGill.
If you're looking for "something else" or that international experience but you don't want to go to Europe, it's not a bad option.
Most if not all applications are still open (I think Toronto early was Dec. 1 but it's still open) so decided to put this out for anyone considering.

Public transit is great and accessible, there's plenty to do around the city. Area around campus is accessible, you get food options and everything. Don't get a car if you're at UofT, you will never use it. If you're into drinking, the engineers have a huge drinking problem. Not far from places like Niagra Falls if you want to gamble and do the tourist thing.
Vancouver as a city is a little boring but the campus is nice, good if you want to take hikes or do that nature shit. On the West Coast if you want to stay there.
McGill (and I'm assuming UMontreal) are both in Montreal, which is a great city but probably the most Euro-centric compared to Toronto and Vancouver. Go figure, it's in Frenchy land. Great food, McGill has a nice campus. Don't worry about speaking French, Montreal is not hard at all to navigate if you only speak English. Most Toronto people I know forgot all French after grade school so you're not alone there.
As I mentioned before, Waterloo is great for job placement but their numbers are a little iffy. Apparently if you give up on finding a co-op job they don't count you as looking for a job so their co-op placement % is so high. That being said, if you're a good student you should be able to find an internship that will probably turn into a good post-grad job. Talked to a surprising amount of people in the Bay Area who are from Waterloo, they've been on the come up.
Reasons To Not Attend
It gets cold... forewarning especially for anyone who does not see snow at all during the winter.
Contrary to popular belief, Canadians are not all super nice. Like any other big cities Toronto for example does have crime, so just don't do dumb shit and wander down to those neighborhoods and you won't get shot. Common sense there.
Unlike the US, Canada's top universities are all public. Now, you will be essentially charged as an OOS student. Waterloo Engineering/CS is ~$47k US, UofT is more. I would consider this in line with, say, UMich OOS. If you're a citizen, hopefully you're looking at these schools because you can get a T50 global education for less than a UC. If you're already looking at OOS schools I would consider Canadian schools, it's about the same price.
Since they are all public, they are not small universities. They have large undergrad populations and as a result a lot of weeding classes. Toronto and Waterloo are notorious meat grinders and GPA killers, I'd compare them to MIT/Berk. This isn't limited to engineering and CS either, other degrees are pretty grindy as well. Mental health support is not amazing (they're working on it, no different from a lot of big US unis) so finding a group of friends is pretty important. This is probably hardest at Waterloo, since people are on all sorts of different schedules due to co-ops but it's not impossible. Toronto too, being a commuter school, but contrary to it's reputation, all my friends that go there (and Waterloo) haven't had any of those issues so YMMV. Stay near campus and get involved. Basically easy(ish) in, hard out.
Waterloo's campus is pretty ass. Don't go there if you value campus beauty, it's a concrete brutalist jungle that values utilitarinism over everything. Party scene is supposedly ass, Wilfrid Laurier is next door so that's where I hear you go. Food offerings are decent, definitely Asian-centric so you have a T&T in walking distance and tons of bubble tea places, Costco isn't far. The surrounding town is meh, you have direct connection to one of the local malls and uptown has ok food offerings, but you're in corn country, funny considering it's a high tech school. Kinda like Purdue. Get a car, drive to Toronto to do stuff. There really isn't much to do in Waterloo-Kitchener but you're probably studying and job hunting at the same time so who cares.
I gotta say that outside of Engineering/CS/Business (Ivey) I wouldn't really go for schools like Waterloo or Toronto because none of their majors seem really... relaxed. Not like how American schools are. Advice I've heard from UofT students about premed - don't do it there.
How To Apply
You guys know how Coalition is shit? That's a luxury compared to most Canadian applications, where web interfaces are straight out of the dotcom bubble.
They're not that bad, but definitely harder to deal with.
Make sure you meet their US requirements. Typically, for engineering, this is something like AP Calc/AP Physics/AP Chemistry or two years of Physics/Chem, plus senior-year English and assorted other classes. SAT/Subj recommended but who knows after this year. Waterloo CS I know likes their math competitions. Here is a spreadsheet of Waterloo applicants, to give you an idea of the ECs people do. Sub in COSMOS or whatever your state does for Shad, AMC for their math comps (still recommend taking theirs if possible), McDonald's is universal, and yeah they have a crazy number of Kumon tutors.
There is really no common application, the people I know would kill to have something like Common or Coalition. Every school has their own portal.
Now, if you're applying to more than one Ontario school (if not, just use individual portals), use OUAC 105. This will make your life slightly easier for inputting basic info.
For every engineering school basically, you will have a supplemental application. This ranges from Waterloo's AIF to Toronto's Personal Profile. Here is where you input grades, describe activities, and do the trickier stuff. Most of these are just like logic questions to "get to know how you think" or whatever, the process for Toronto is basically

Short, timed recorded video about a challenge/whatever
Short, timed recorded video where you answer a logic question

and it's not that different for the rest. Doesn't take that long, maybe 30 minutes, take a look online for people's experience with those for the year before you apply. Some schools have additional writing more like US schools.
Otherwise, the experience is about the same if you went and applied to UT Austin, UIUC, UCs, and CSUs and didn't use Coalition. Inputting grades and activities individually sucks so I woudln't recommend applying to a ton unless you're dedicated.

TL;DR - good schools, you might suicide but that's basically all top schools these days, cheap as hell for citizens, good international reputation, AMA I'll answer what I can.

The logistics of organising such a process on short notice is quite intimidating in these fluctuating times, but there is a route currently open to current visa holders. Routes may of course shut whilst you’re spending 2 weeks in an intermediary nation.
Personal circumstances will dictate how risk-averse you are, as for sure this is a route that has big risks and costs across the board.
In an ideal world I’d get on the next plane to a nation that has a travel corridor with Japan, to avoid two sets of quarantine, but those nations are also announcing UK bans, so it’s a gamble wherevewhenever you were to decide.

I’m going for education, so my decision is based on semesters and online classes. Sadly I have been presented 3 options and 24hrs to choose, so I researched this 4th complex risky option.
I can’t do online classes from a uk time zone without being nocturnal indefinitely.
I might postpone my entry to the next semester in 3 months. Then gauge how/if/when I enter based on restrictions, visa expiration and global borders being more stable. I don’t mind going a few weeks early in order to have a valid visa. All if’s and but’s. But having to make a decision today, that’s where I’m at.

Spent a couple hours thinking and writing out brief theses for all of my current positions. I follow news and financials, but these are more internal thoughts I had moving into positions. This exercise definitely helped flesh things (positive and negative) out and gave me things to think about. I think it's something I'll be doing at year-end on an annual basis moving forward as well as exit comments on all positions. I am open to risk and my portfolio reflects that. Investment Theses - Dec 1, 2020
ARKK ETF: Technology is expanding and compounding at a rate that is hard to keep up with. The same can be said of many of the primary holdings of ARKK. These are companies that have benefited the most from how quickly the world is changing today as well as how the stock market landscape in general is changing.
CLOU ETF: Cloud computing is becoming more and more relevant as businesses are relying more and more on big data to optimize their businesses. While this sector has received a bump from the COVID-19 pandemic and may level off for a time, I see it as a catalyst to a sector that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
QQQ ETF: The Nasdaq has exploded over the past decade, far outpacing the S&P 500. This is the technology age, and those changes are just starting.
TAN ETF: As we push into the 2020s, solar energy (and other forms of clean energy) is something that is finally starting to be looked at seriously. With the massive amounts of infrastructure to be laid and work to be done, this industry won't be slowing down anytime soon.
AMZN: I mean, it's Amazon.
BAC: Huge financial institution with a long history that will be propped up by any means possible. Bank of America and other financial institutions were hit particularly hard by the drop in early 2020 and should have some further upside. This is more of a short-term idea as investors seem to be somewhat rotating back into value plays.
DIS: Disney is currently at a crossroads - they have the opportunity to break into the streaming revolution that is taking over the world, and they seem to be doing far better than anyone thought they would be. With a huge amount of IP, Disney has the capacity to rise to the level of Netflix (while not being a direct competitor) at a much quicker rate. Add into the mix their parks and retail side, and we should have great growth and a stable rebound moving into 2021 and beyond.
T: AT&T has obviously bungled their way through the DIRECTV acquisition while taking on a lot of debt to acquire it along with Time Warner. On the plus side, they've been able to effectively manage and bring their debt down due to continually strong cash flows. It remains to be seen whether they can shake off the nightmare that has been DIRECTV and capitalize on the shift to 5G as well as HBO Max.
V: Credit and debit cards are far from ubiquitous in the US and even more so in other areas of the world. Visa remains the company to beat in the space.
CRSP: The secret to the future of medicine lies in CRISPR (gene editing) technology. If this technology can be harnessed in the way it is imagined, the potentials are without end. The technology is still in the nascent stages and will undoubtedly face many delays and challenges along the way. This combined with the fact that CRISPR Therapeutics is not guaranteed to come out on top in the sector (although they are well-positioned) makes this is still a speculative but somewhat safe play.

It remains to be seen whether that spike in production will be met with the same level of demand, which is what the current astronomical valuation is based on. Highly speculative and volatile but still viewed as a long term hold if demand surges YoY.
