Laughlin casino closing again after employees test positive

It was getting really tedious to edit a post with over 100 casinos in it. So I'm breaking it up to Nevada casinos and non-Nevada casinos.
On a side note, heading to Vegas on Thursday. I'll try to write a trip report and update the minimums as I can. I'm there 9 days and We will be hitting more than 10 casinos, so I expect to be busy.

I reached out to the mods asking about putting together a post to collect minimums for craps tables in Vegas and other places.
If this post gains traction, it may get a sticky. It may also help cut down on the amount of posts asking for this info.
I'll try to keep the body of the post updated. If information is correct, let me know.
Update 6/18 - Nevada Gaming Board announced masks required at table games in Nevada. I haven't heard that this is being enforced yet.
6/30: Keep reporting, especially any of you heading to Vegas. We would love to hear what the mins are on the strip

Laughlin loses its only grocery store!

An unintentional fallout from the statewide closure of non-essential businesses is that after our local casino resorts in Laughlin close, wholesale food suppliers in Las Vegas decided to stop supplying Aldape's Market which was our only grocery store. A cashier at the store told me that the suppliers said that it wasn't cost effective to send a truck all the way to Laughlin just to supply one store. After 33 years of business, Aldape's was forced to close because it could not restock its inventory.
It was hard on local wage earners after the statewide closure of our schools. Life became even more challenging after the casino resorts closed down. The local casinos were the major employers of this area. The closure of Aldape's has left those members of our community who don't have access to personal transportation without a convenient source of fresh food. The only remaining store that sells food in Laughlin (outside of gas stations) is a Dollar General Store. While the Dollar General carries canned goods, cleaning supplies, and a limited assortment of dairy products and frozen foods, it does not sell fresh meat, poultry, or produce.
Aldape's will not reopen after the shelter in place order is finally lifted. I suspect that last year's opening of a full sized Smart and Final Supermarket across the river made the grocery business too competitive. It's ironic that Aldape's might have survived if the vendors hadn't cancelled their shipments. Since this family owned grocery had higher prices than the supermarkets across the state line in Arizona, this also kept the number of shoppers who frequented this store much smaller than those at stores across the river. Given the dangers posed by this unfolding pandemic, I would have been much happier shopping at Aldape's rather than shopping in Arizona.
While I am not a socialist or even a supporter of Bernie Sanders, I do think that this pandemic has served to further highlight the disparity between those who have and those who don't.

Federal Stimulus Check

Since the U.S. Department of Treasury has been auto depositing Federal stimulus checks to all taxpayers who have already filed their 2019 income tax on-line, I had mixed feelings when I checked my on-line bank account and saw that $1200 had been deposited. On the one hand it's $1,200 of free money. On the other hand I'm also a teacher in rural Nevada. Even though all K-12 schools in my state have been closed since March 16 by order of Governor Sisolak, I'm still drawing a paycheck. There are over 200,000 casino resort workers who are not. It's not just the black jack dealers, croupiers, and pit bosses who are out of work but also desk clerks, cashiers, bell hops, housekeeping, maintenance, servers, kitchen staffs, valets etc. Add in other retail businesses and services and our state unemployment office has been slammed with over 300,000 applications that have been submitted within the past 30 days! Although there is a desperate need for money now, the state is still processing applications that were submitted during the last week of March.
Our one and only grocery store was forced to close after a wholesale food supplier in Las Vegas decided that it wasn't cost effective to run a supply truck to my community just to restock one grocer. This supplier had previously also supplied several of our casino resorts, all of which have been closed. The closure of this grocer has left Dollar General as being the only "food store" in town. Our local food bank has been overwhelmed partially because a lot of people don't have personal transportation to go grocery shopping out of town; but also because a lot of them are now unemployed.
To make matters worse, although Governor Sisolak issued a stay on all eviction proceedings and foreclosures, a lot of unscrupulous landlords have been evicting tenants who have been unable to pay their rent. People who had jobs but lost them because of the shelter in place orders are now being displaced across the state. It's absolutely heartrending to realize that our most vulnerable; the poor and the homeless are being the worst hurt by this on-going crisis.
Given everything I have described, I could not in good conscience keep the $1200 that the Federal government gave me. I consider myself extremely fortunate. I'm still drawing a paycheck. I have a roof over my head and food on the table. This is more than many others have.
Having said this, with so much need out there, $1200 is just a drop in the metaphorical bucket. Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder and CEO has earned a record $24 BILLION just from higher sales volume during this pandemic.
As a high school teacher, I don't have anything like the financial resources of CEO Bezos. I have already given out one box of food supplies to a student and $200 in personal funds to another non-profit group. I decided to split the $1200 stimulus check between the local food bank and my favorite no-kill pet shelter.
Since I'm on the spectrum and have not always had the best judgment when it comes to giving money to others, I contacted five colleagues to ask what they thought about this idea. Since they all thought it was a good idea, I subsequently used paypal to make these donations. I copied the receipts to a word file because charitable contributions (up to a certain amount) are tax deductible and I will keep these records for next year's tax return.
I wish my colleagues would join me in making similar contributions but I don't know what their financial situations are and thought it might be arrogant if I were to have asked. Even so ... fifty something teachers multiplied by $1200 would total $60,000. This money could have done a lot of good.
While I appreciate having received a Federal stimulus check, I don't think that anyone who is still drawing a paycheck should have received this money. I am going to say as much to my Congressman and Senator via email.

Caesaras Casinos in Nevada closing

I realized i have a problem and cant go to casinos anymore

My story. 41 yo male living with my 37 yo gf and mother of our 6 month old son. I am the breadwinner and work full time while she stays home with baby. My drug of choice has been blackjack tables at my 2 local casinos. It has not just caused me financial issues but has givin me too much anxiety and depression and even when i am winning big i cannot stop. As i was soaking in the hot tub this morning from my comp room night i had some deep soul searching and am no longer going to gamble. Its not who i am.
My ignition into the gambling world started in 2014 when a friend of mine invited me to laughlin nevada for a gambling trip at the tropicana hotel. I mainly just played the slots there. By share fluke i made $500 on one lucky spin. I got that first taste of that rush and excitment to chase more wins and tried roulette and bombed horribly bring me form 575 bank roll to 325. Fortunatly it was a short stay and drove home. From 2014-2017 i took about 3 more trips there and that was all the gambling i did.
Then on my birthday 2018 my new gf at the time took me to my local casino for my birthday and gave me 100$ gambling money which i took to the BJ table and burned thru it horribly, although I was not very preoccupided with gamblng that day because i was having drinks with her and we had other fesivities going on.
But a couple months later i started to read up on blackjack and memorized basic stratagy 100% by playing apps on my phone and then realized i could go back to that casino with much better odds. I went back and won big. close to $1,000. Then the chase for that high never went away, gambling has been a big roller coaster of Happy cheering winning moments, to very stressful and anxiety racking losing moments.
Since then ive been secretly taking trips there 1x 2x per week and secretly withdrawing money (and depositing winnings) into my bank acct which affect my family. Ive gambled away money that was needed to pay important bills. Even now the electric bill and car insurance are late. Ive used any lie or excuse to get there. Most commonly secret vacation hours used while she thought i was at work and BS OT on my day off. While i have had some really nice big wins ive lost lots of money too. I really cant take not just the guilt anymore but the psychological anxiety and stress gambling has put me through. One night as I was rocking my son to sleep after having lost $600 that day I actually cried thinking about stuff that our son needed such as diapers toys Etc, in the wave of guilt an emotion that my bank account was drained and I couldn't provide for him was the worst feeling in the world. I am too addicted. When i play BJ i am at the table all day. I cant handle it as just entertainment. Last night after coming up $800 only to dwindle it all away then being down By 150, I realize I have a big problem Its gone too far. .i am quitting for good and am so ashamed of myself. I have no one to talk to about this.
I want to quit and i don't want to ever visit a casino again. I am no longer a gambler. But my heart is hurting right now, $800 that I won and woulda helped my family and then to lose it all and become 150 down really hurt my family, theres hardly any money to buy groceries this week because of my stupidity. As I'm typing this story I am severely depressed, ashamed, but wanting to be a better person, someone who doesn't Gamble. But now my girlfriend has started to catch on to me and is disgusted and angry with me. She hates me. All I can do is try to be honest that's her, things are not well. I am so ashamed to have gotten addicted to Blackjack. I know i may get impulses to try it again after today, but I must delay and distract, I must remind myself how unhealthy of a habit it is and how it's destroying my life with my family, and wrecking my mental health. how it's making me so irresponsible with money.. I must take up new hobbies and interests. I need all the support I can get.

Daniel Geale stopped Garth Wood in the 6th round

I mentioned in the preview that Wood was overmatched and Geale should have very little trouble with Wood who’s only solid win came on a hail mary type punch on Anthony Mundine. From the opening bell, Geale just destroyed Wood. A UK referee would have wisely stopped the fight in the 1st round. In the post-fight interview, Geale called out and asked for a Golovkin fight. Geale looked good, but not that good.

Zou Shiming knocked out Yokthong Kokietgym in the 7th round

There’s something I love watching in Zou Shiming. It’s similar to the way I love watching Pacquiao fight. It might be the way he flows offensively where he’s set and ready to throw punches at any point in the fight or maybe the fact that he just looks like he loves fighting and he’s enjoying what’s going on in the ring. Whatever it was, this was an entertaining fight. Shiming was obviously gunning for a KO and it must have felt good to finally get one. Shiming showed a ton of excellent technical things, the way he slipped punches, used his feet to escape, and a few little veteran things like using his forearms and shoulders to create more offense… and then there were the lapses where he was clipped by telegraphed punches that he should have avoided. It made for captivating TV and while Shiming doesn’t appear to have what it takes to beat any of the elite flyweights in the world, he will remain to be must watch TV for me.

Miguel Vazquez retained his IBF lightweight title over 12 rounds against Denis Shafikov

The internet seemed convinced that this was the end of the line for Vazquez. That the jig was up against an action Russian fighter who’s spent time at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card gym. I disagreed. How would a guy with a 5 inch height advantage whose jab is his bread and butter lose against a guy who comes forward and looks to be aggressive? Especially when the bigger man has some of the best footwork in boxing. Vazquez delivered a thorough performance that solidified him (in my eyes) as the top lightweight in the world.

Mavin Sonsona knocked out Akifumi Shimoda in the 3rd round

Marvelous Marvin Sonsona’s downfall will be his inability to keep his hands up. But so long as he lands his thunderous left on anyone’s chin, this kid will be a fast rising star. He’s 23, a southpaw, and Filipino. I’m not kidding when I saw that this was one of the most brutal KO’s I’ve seen in a while. If you haven’t seen it, look it up. A deadly left uppercut that put Shimoda to sleep the moment it landed.

Rex Tso stopped Mako Matsuyama in the 7th round

My boy Rex Tso stops yet another opponent. I think Tso has reached a point where he needs to step up his competition. Shiming and Luke Campbell are in the same boat. There's really no point for them to be taking these easy "journeymen" type fights. Their skill has, in my opinion, prompted a higher caliber of opponent to give them an opportunity to grow and evolve rather than continue refining what has worked in the past. I like to see fighters add new wrinkles to their game.

Ryota Murata stopped Carlos Nascimento in the 4th round

Story time. I woke up at 3am to watch this card (pacific time) so that I could see it live. I should have written down everything I was seeing or thinking because it’s all a blur and I fell asleep during the Vazquez fight. (No surprise there.) Murata looked good. He was accurate and the uppercut is becoming his signature blow.

Egor Mekhontsev stopped Atthaporn Jaritram in the 2nd round

Jaritram had no business fighting at light heavyweight and Mekhotsev made him pay. Jaritram was beaten from corner to corner and received the first loss of his career. If I have any criticism of Mekhontsev, it’s that he was squaring up a little too much, but his jab was brilliant. Obviously you can’t look at a fight like this and make any real decisions about a guy, but from what I can see, Mekhontsev could make real noise at light heavyweight if his chin is solid and he can avoid squaring up so often.

This fight went on far too long. McDonnell had Wood out in the 6th round and the referee continued to let McDonnell batter Wood.

Curtis Woodhouse won a split decision over Darren Hamilton

And after the fight promptly retired.

Luke Campbell stopped Scott Moises in the 8th and final round

Campbell looked really good against an awkward opponent who seemed to love getting hit. Moises fought the entire fight with a smile and was encouraging Campbell more than his corner was to pour on the attack. Campbell broke his man down with very nice body shots and an accurate jab and straight to the head.
