Is there an opening band?

Yes. Tool has announced "Killing Joke" as the opening band for all arena shows on the upcoming tour.

What time do the shows start?

Venue doors at 7:00 PM

Opening band at 8:00 PM

Tool at 9:00 PM

What are VIP Tickets?

In previous tours VIP tickets included early entrance to the venue, VIP merchendise (poster and shirt), early access to the public merch booth, tour of "tool museum" with art, sculptures and props from music videos, random old school tool items, etc. VIP also includes a 90 minute "Q&A" session with a band member (usually Adam) where he answers questions and talks with fans in an intimate session. A concert pit ticket with a seat in the first few rows is also included.

How much are VIP Tickets?

Based on previous tours, VIP tickets are $500 and include the VIP pre-show experience, in addition to a premium seat for the show.

Will Tool announce any more shows?

Not for 2019. The announced dates are certainly it for the rest of this year. We should expect more tours in 2020, including a return to Europe and possibly more USA/Canada dates.

How much are tickets?

Ticket prices vary from show to show, but on average they range from $70 for upper bowl seats to $150 for premium seating.

Will there be a presale?

Yes. Toolarmy members will have a one time limited presale on SEPT 4th at 10:00 AM

What is Toolarmy?

The official fanclub membership program run by the band. It provices you with merch, but the pre sale opportuntiy is a huge perk for those planning on going to shows. Tickets will sell out fast! Toolarmy is $49.99 for a one year membership.

Is there general admission pits?

Tool typically does not allow general admission (pits) for North American shows. Even for larger venues that typically have a "GA floor" you should expect physical seating with assigned rows for all of the concerts.

Will there be reddit meetups?

Yes! We will coordinate reddit pre-show meetups for drinks or hanging out before all shows on this tour. We will post updates about that later.

Am I allowed to film Tool shows?
Yes. Maynard has been very vocal about encouraging fans to film him during live shows for all of his bands. The bigger the camera, the brighter the flash, the more annoying to fellow concert goers the better. For maximum effect, make sure you point the camera at Maynard specifically. But not during Culling Voices... don't you dare point that at him.

If I missed anything you feel should be added please PM me!

Lost in the Sauce: March 22 - 28

Welcome to Lost in the Sauce, keeping you caught up on political and legal news that often gets buried in distractions and theater… or a global health crisis.
Figuring out how to divide the COVID-19 content from the “regular” news has been difficult because the pandemic is influencing all aspects of life. Some of the stories below involve the virus, but I chose to include them when it fits into one of the pre-established categories (like congress or immigration). The coronavirus-central post will be made again this Thursday-Friday; the sign up form now has an option to choose to receive an email when the coronavirus-focused roundup is posted.
House-keeping:
  1. How to support: If you enjoy my work, please consider becoming a patron. I do this to keep track and will never hide behind a paywall, but these projects take a lot of time and effort to create. Even a couple of dollars a month helps. Since someone asked a few weeks ago (thank you!), here's a PayPal option and Venmo.
  2. How to get notifications: If you’d like to be added to my newsletter, use this SIGNUP FORM and you’ll get these recaps in your inbox!
Let’s dig in!

MAIN COURSE

Congress passes stimulus

Last week started out with a Republican-crafted stimulus bill that was twice-blocked by Senate Democrats, who objected to the lax conditions of aid to corporations, too little funding for hospitals, and a $500 billion “slush fund” for big companies to be doled out by Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin with no oversight.
Conservative-Democrat Joe Manchin (WV) even criticized the GOP bill:
“It fails our first responders, nurses, private physicians and all healthcare professionals. ... It fails our workers. It fails our small businesses… Instead, it is focused on providing billions of dollars to Wall Street and misses the mark on helping the West Virginians that have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.”
Through negotiations, Democrats shifted the bill in a more-worker friendly direction. The version that passed includes the following Democrat-added provisions: expanded unemployment benefits, $100 billion for hospitals, $150 billion for state and local governments, direct payments to Americans without a phase-in (ensuring low-income workers get the full amount), a ban on Trump and his children from receiving aid, and oversight on the “slush fund” (see next section for more info). Senate Democrats also managed to remove a provision that would have excluded nonprofits that receive Medicaid funding from the small-business grants.
Echoing sentiments expressed during debate on the previous coronavirus bill (the second, for those keeping track), Republican senators derided the $600 a week increase in unemployment payments as “incentivizing” workers to quit their jobs. Sens. Ben Sasse (Neb.), Rick Scott (Fla.), Tim Scott (S.C.) and Lindsey Graham (S.C.) delayed passage of the bill in order to force a vote on an amendment removing the extra unemployment funding. "This bill pays you more not to work than if you were working," Graham said. Fortunately for American workers, the amendment failed and the improved bill passed the Senate and the House.

The giveaways in the bill

While Senate Democrats were able to add worker-friendly provisions, the bill still required bipartisan support to pass the chamber and some corporate giveaways remained in the final version.
Politico:

Trump’s signing statement

While signing the latest coronavirus relief bill, the president also issued a signing statement undercutting the congressional oversight provision creating an inspector general to track how the administration distributes the $500 billion “slush fund” money.
The newly-created inspector general is legally required to audit loans and investments made through the fund and report to Congress his/her findings, including any refusal by the executive office to cooperate. In his signing statement, Trump wrote that his understanding of constitutional powers allows him to gag the special IG:
"I do not understand, and my Administration will not treat, this provision as permitting the [inspector general] to issue reports to the Congress without the presidential supervision required" by Article II of the Constitution.
The signing statement further suggests that Trump does not have to comply with a provision requiring that agencies consult with Congress before it spends or reallocates certain funds: "These provisions are impermissible forms of congressional aggrandizement with respect to the execution of the laws," the statement reads.
While some have said that Congress fell short in this instance, one Democratic Senate aide told Politico that Congress built in multiple layers of oversight, including “a review of other inspectors general and a congressional review committee charged with overseeing Treasury and the Federal Reserve's efforts to implement the law.”
Legal experts have pointed out that a signing statement is “without legal effect.” But that ignores the fact that oversight is not equal to enforcement. The problem, in my opinion, isn’t that Congress won’t be notified of any abuses of power by Trump. The problem is that congressional Republicans and the judiciary have largely failed to hold him accountable and enforce our laws even after learning of his abuses.

Concerns about the IG

Another potential weakness in the oversight structure is the inspector general position itself. The special inspector general for pandemic recovery, known by the acronym S.I.G.P.R., is nominated by the president and confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate. As we’ve seen from Trump’s previous nominees, particularly judicial, many unqualified individuals have been confirmed. The Democrats will not have the power to stop the president and Mitch McConnell from jamming through a loyalist to fill the SIGPR role.
Former inspector general at the Justice Department Michael Bromwich: “The signing statement threatens to undermine the authority and independence of this new IG. The Senate should extract a commitment from the nominee that Congress will be promptly notified of any Presidential/Administration interference or obstruction.”
You may recall that Trump has already proven that he’s willing to interfere with the legally-mandated work of an inspector general. When the Ukraine whistleblower filed a complaint last year, the IG of the Intelligence Community, Michael Atkinson, investigated and determined the complaint to be “urgent” and “credible.” Atkinson wrote a report and gave it to Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire to hand over to Congress. However, the White House and DOJ interfered and instructed Maguire not to transmit the report to the Senate and House Intelligence Committees. Chairman Adam Schiff had to subpoena Maguire to turn over the report and testify before his committee.
Further, there are already five IG vacancies in agencies that have a critical role in responding to the pandemic. The Treasury itself has not had a permanent, Senate-confirmed IG for over eight months now, and Trump hasn’t nominated a replacement. The Treasury Dept. has taken a lead role in the coronavirus response, with Secretary Mnuchin handling most of the negotiating with Congress on Trump’s behalf. The fact that the lead agency doesn’t have IG oversight should be troublesome in itself; replicating the situation with a special IG doesn’t seem to be a promising solution.
UPDATE: The nation's inspectors general have appointed Glenn Fine, the Pentagon's acting IG, to lead the committee of IGs overseeing the coronavirus relief effort.
This is one of several oversight mechanisms built into the new law. They include:
A committee of IGs (now led by Fine), a new special IG (to be nominated by Trump), a congressional review panel (to be appointed by House/Senate leaders)

Direct payments

Included in the stimulus bill is a $1200 one-time direct payment for all Americans who made less than $75,000 in 2019 (less than $150,000 if couples filed jointly). More details can be found here. I have read that the Treasury will use 2018 information for those who have not filed yet this year, but I am not 100% sure that’ll happen.
Mnuchin has said that Americans can expect to receive the money within three weeks, but many experts expect that timetable to be pushed into late April. Additionally, that only applies to Americans who included direct deposit information on their 2019 tax returns. Those who did not include their bank’s information will have to be sent a physical check in the mail… which could take anywhere from two to four months.
Other options are being discussed, including partnering the Treasury Dept. with MasterCard and Visa to deliver prepaid debit cards. Venmo and Paypal are reportedly lobbying the government to be considered as a disbursement option.
Future payments?
House Speaker Pelosi is already planning another wave of direct payments to Americans, saying that the $1,200 is not enough to mitigate the economic effects of the pandemic: “I don’t think we’ve seen the end of direct payments.” Republicans, meanwhile, are taking a ‘wait and see’ approach, using the next couple of weeks to measure the impact of the $2 trillion bill passed last week.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy: “What concerns me is when I listen to Nancy Pelosi talk about a fourth package now, it’s because she did not get out of things that she really wanted...I’m not sure you need a fourth package...Let’s let this work ... We have now given the resources to make and solve this problem. We don’t need to be crafting another bill right now.”
For the fourth legislative package, Democrats have said they would like to see increased food stamp benefits; increased coverage for coronavirus testing, visits to the doctor and treatment; more money for state and local governments, including Washington, D.C.; expanded family and medical leave; pension fixes; and stronger workplace protections.
Trump’s signature
Normally, a civil servant signs federal checks, like the direct payments Americans are set to receive. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Trump has told people that he wants his signature to appear on the stimulus checks.

THE SIDES

War on the poor continues

Amid the coronavirus crisis, Trump has defended his continued support of a Republican-led lawsuit to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, which would result in 20 million Americans losing health insurance if successful. The Supreme Court agreed to hear arguments in the case this fall. Contrasting with his position that the ACA is illegal, Trump is considering reopening enrollment on HealthCare.gov, allowing millions of uninsured individuals to get coverage before potentially incurring charges and fees related to COVID-19.
Joe Biden called on Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is leading the charge against the ACA, and President Trump to drop the lawsuit:
“At a time of national emergency, which is laying bare the existing vulnerabilities in our public health infrastructure, it is unconscionable that you are continuing to pursue a lawsuit designed to strip millions of Americans of their health insurance and protections under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), including the ban on insurers denying coverage or raising premiums due to pre-existing conditions.”
The Trump administration is also pushing forward with its plan to kick 700,000 people off federal food stamp assistance, known as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). The USDA announced two weeks ago that the department will appeal Judge Beryl Howell’s recent decision that the USDA’s work mandate rule is “arbitrary and capricious."
Additionally: The Social Security Administration has no plans to slow down a rule change set for June that will limit disability benefits, the Department of Health and Human Services still intends to reduce automatic enrollment in health coverage, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development will continue the process to enact a rule that would make it harder for renters to sue landlords for racial discrimination.

Lawmakers’ stock transactions

The Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission are beginning to investigate stock transactions made ahead of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. CNN reports that the inquiry has already reached out to Senator Richard Burr for information. “Under insider trading laws, prosecutors would need to prove the lawmakers traded based on material non-public information they received in violation of a duty to keep it confidential,” a task that won’t be easy.
Sen. Burr is facing another consequence of his trades: Alan Jacobson, a shareholder in Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, sued Burr for allegedly using private information to instruct a mass liquidation of his assets. Among the shares he sold were an up to $150,000 stake in Wyndham, whose stock suffered a market-value cut of more than two-thirds since mid-February.

Environmental rollbacks

Using the pandemic as cover, the Trump administration has begun to more aggressively roll back regulations meant to protect the environment. These are examples of what Naomi Klein dubbed “the shock doctrine”: the phenomenon wherein polluters and their government allies push through unpopular policy changes under the smokescreen of a public emergency.
On Thursday, the EPA announced (non-paywalled) an expansive relaxation of environmental laws and fines, exempting companies from consequences for pollution. Under the new rules, there are basically no rules. Companies are asked to “act responsibly” but are not required to report when their facilities discharge pollution into the air or water. Just five days before abandoning any pollution oversight, the oil industry’s largest trade group implored the administration for assistance, stating that social distancing measures caused a steep drop in demand for gasoline.
  • Monday morning update: In an interview with Fox News this morning, Trump said he was going to call Putin after the interview to discuss the Saudi-Russia oil fight. A consequence of this "battle" has been plummeting prices in the U.S. making it difficult for domestic companies (like shale extraction) to turn a profit. It's striking that the day after Dr. Fauci told Americans we can expect 100,000 to 200,000 deaths from COVID-19 (if we keep social distancing measures in place), Trump's first action is to talk to Fox News and his second action is to intervene in an international tiff on behalf of the oil and gas industry.
Gina McCarthy, who led the E.P.A. under the Obama administration, called the rollback “an open license to pollute.” Cynthia Giles, who headed the EPA enforcement division during the Obama administration, said “it is so far beyond any reasonable response I am just stunned.”
The EPA is also moving forward with a widely-opposed rule to limit the types of scientific studies used when crafting new regulations or revising current ones. Hidden behind claims of increased transparency, the rule would require disclosure of all raw data used in scientific studies. This would disqualify many fields of research that rely on personal health information from individuals that must be kept confidential. For example, studies that show air pollution causes premature deaths or a certain pesticide is linked to birth defects would be rejected under the proposed rule change.
Officials and scientists are calling upon the EPA to extend the time for comment on the regulatory changes, arguing that the public is unable to express their opinion while dealing with the pandemic.
“These rollbacks need and deserve the input of our public health community, but right now, they are rightfully focused on responding to the coronavirus,” said Representative Frank Pallone of New Jersey, the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Other controversial decisions being made:
  • A former EPA official who worked on controversial policies returned as Administrator Andrew Wheeler’s chief of staff. Mandy Gunasekara helped write regulations to ease pollution controls for coal-fired power plants and vehicle emissions in her previous role as chief of the EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. In a recent interview, Gunasekara, who played a role in the decision to exit the Paris Climate Accord, pushed back on the more dire predictions of climate change, saying, “I don't think it is catastrophic.”
  • NYT: The plastic bag industry, battered by a wave of bans nationwide, is using the coronavirus crisis to try to block laws prohibiting single-use plastic. “We simply don’t want millions of Americans bringing germ-filled reusable bags into retail establishments putting the public and workers at risk,” an industry campaign that goes by the name Bag the Ban warned on Tuesday. (Also see The Guardian)
  • Kentucky, South Dakota, and West Virginia passed laws putting new criminal penalties on protests against fossil fuel infrastructure in just the past two weeks.
  • The Hill: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said Friday that it will extend the amount of time that winter gasoline can be sold this year as producers have been facing lower demand due to the coronavirus. It will allow companies to sell the winter-grade gasoline through May 20, whereas companies would have previously been required to stop selling it by May 1 to protect air quality. “In responding to an international health crisis, the last thing the EPA should do is take steps that will worsen air quality and undermine the public’s health,” biofuels expert David DeGennaro said.
  • NYT: At the Interior Department, employees at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have been under strict orders to complete the rule eliminating some protections for migratory birds within 30 days, according to two people with direct knowledge of the orders. The 45-day comment period on that rule ended on March 19.
  • WaPo: The Interior Department has received over 230 nominations for oil and gas leases covering more than 150,000 acres across southern Utah, a push that would bring drilling as close as a half-mile from some of the nation’s most famous protected sites, including Arches and Canyonlands National Parks… if all the fossil fuels buried in those sites was extracted and burned, it would translate into between 1 billion and 5.95 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide being released into the air. That upward measure is equal to half the annual carbon output of China

Court updates

Press freedom case
Southern District of New York District Judge Lorna Schofield ruled that a literary advocacy group’s lawsuit against Trump for allegedly violating the First Amendment can move forward. The group, PEN America, is pursuing claims that Trump “has used government power to retaliate against media coverage and reporters he dislikes.”
Schofield determined that PEN’s allegation that Trump made threats to chill free speech was valid, providing as an example the White House’s revocation of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta’s press press corps credentials:
”The threats are lent credence by the fact that Defendant has acted on them before, by revoking Mr. Acosta’s credentials and barring reporters from particular press conferences. The Press Secretary indeed e-mailed the entire press corps to inform them of new rules of conduct and to warn of further consequences, citing the incident involving Mr. Acosta… These facts plausibly allege that a motivation for defendant’s actions is controlling and punishing speech he dislikes.”
Twitter case
The president suffered another First Amendment defeat last week when the full 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals declined to review a previous ruling that prevents Trump from blocking users on the Twitter account he uses to communicate with the public. Judge Barrington D. Parker, a Nixon-appointee, wrote: “Excluding people from an otherwise public forum such as this by blocking those who express views critical of a public official is, we concluded, unconstitutional.”
Trump-appointees Michael Parker and Richard Sullivan authored a dissent, arguing the free speech “does not include a right to post on other people’s personal social media accounts, even if those other people happen to be public officials.” Park warned that the ruling will allow the social media pages of public officials to be “overrun with harassment, trolling, and hate speech, which officials will be powerless to filter.”
Florida’s felon voting
U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle ripped into Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s administration for failing to come up with a process to determine which felons are genuinely unable to pay court-ordered fees and fines, which are otherwise required to be paid before having their voting rights restored.
“If the state is not going to fix it, I will,” Hinkle warned. He had given the state five months to come up with an administrative process for felons to prove they’re unable to pay financial obligations, but Florida officials did not do so. The case is set to be heard on April 28 (notwithstanding any coronavirus-related delays).

ICE, Jails, and COVID-19

ICE
One of the most overlooked populations with an increased risk of death from coronavirus are those in detention facilities, which keep people in close quarters with little sanitation or protective measures (including for staff).
Last week, U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee ordered the federal government to “make continuous efforts” to release migrant children from detention centers across the country. Numerous advocacy groups asked for the release after reports that four children being held in New York had tested positive for the virus:
“The threat of irreparable injury to their health and safety is palpable,” the plaintiffs’ lawyers said in their petition… both of the agencies operating migrant children detention facilities must by April 6 provide an accounting of their efforts to release those in custody… “Her order will undoubtedly speed up releases,” said Peter Schey, co-counsel for the plaintiffs in the court case.
On Tuesday, 13 immigrants held at ICE facilities in California filed a lawsuit demanding to be released because their health conditions make them particularly vulnerable to dying if infected by the coronavirus. An ACLU statement says the detainees are “confined in crowded and unsanitary conditions where social distancing is not possible.” The 13 individuals are all over the age of 50 and/or suffering from serious underlying medical issues like high blood pressure.
“From all the evidence we have seen, ICE is failing to fulfill its constitutional obligation to protect the health and safety of individuals in its custody. ICE should exercise its existing discretion to release people with serious medical conditions from detention for humanitarian reasons,” said William Freeman, senior counsel at the ACLU of Northern California.
Meanwhile, ICE is under fire for continuing to shuttle detainees across the country, with one even being forced to take nine different flights bouncing from Louisiana to Texas to New Jersey less than two weeks ago. That man is Dr. Sirous Asgari, a materials science and engineering professor from Iran, who was acquitted last year on federal charges of stealing trade secrets. The government lost its case against him, yet ICE has had him in indefinite detention since November.
Asgari, 59, told the Guardian that his Ice holding facility in Alexandria, Louisiana, had no basic cleaning practices in place and continued to bring in new detainees from across the country with no strategy to minimize the threat of Covid-19...Detainees have no hand sanitizer, and the facility is not regularly cleaning bathrooms or sleeping areas…Detainees lack access to masks… Detainees struggle to stay clean, and the facility has an awful stench.
Jails
State jails are making a better effort to release detained individuals, as both New York and New Jersey ordered a thousand people in each state be let out of jail. The order applied only to low-level offenders sentenced to less than a year in jail and those held on technical probation violations. In Los Angeles County, officials released over 1,700 people from its jails.
A judge in Alabama took similar steps last week, ordering roughly 500 people jailed for minor offenses to be released to lessen crowding in facilities. Unlike in New York and New Jersey, however, local officials reacted in an uproar, led in part by the state executive committee for the Alabama Republican Party and Assistant District Attorney C.J. Robinson. Using angry Facebook messages as the barometer of the community’s feelings, Robinson worked “frantically” to block inmates from being released.
  • Reuters: As of Saturday, at least 132 inmates and 104 staff at jails across New York City had tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus… Since March 22, jails have reported 226 inmates and 131 staff with confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to a Reuters survey of cities and counties that run America’s 20 largest jails. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount given the fast spread of the virus.

Tribe opposed by Trump loses land

On Wednesday, The Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs announced the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s reservation would be "disestablished" and its land trust status removed. Tribal Chairman Cedric Cromwell called the move "cruel" and "unnecessary,” particularly coming in the midst of a pandemic crisis. Rep. Bill Keating (D-Mass.), who last year introduced legislation to protect the tribe's reservation as trust land in Massachusetts, said the order “is one of the most cruel and nonsensical acts I have seen since coming to Congress.”
The administration’s decision is especially suspicious as just last year Trump attacked the tribe’s plan to build a casino on its land, tweeting that allowing the construction would be “unfair” and treat Native Americans unequally. As a former casino owner, Trump has spent decades attacking Native American casinos as unfair competition. At a 1993 congressional hearing Trump said that tribal owners “don’t look like Indians to me” and claimed: “I might have more Indian blood than a lot of the so-called Indians that are trying to open up the reservations” to gambling.
More than his past history, however, Trump has current interests at play in the Mashpee Wampanoag’s planned casino: it would have competed for business with nearby Rhode Island casinos owned by Twin River Worldwide Holdings, whose president, George Papanier, was a finance executive at the Trump Plaza casino hotel in Atlantic City.
In the Mashpee case, Twin River, the operator of the two Rhode Island casinos, has hired Matthew Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union and a vocal Trump supporter, to lobby for it on the land issue. Schlapp’s wife, Mercedes, is director of strategic communications at the White House.

Atlantic City Beach/NYC vs Vegas

I am torn and need your advice, great Reddit people.
My boyfriend and I have been together almost 2 years. (27F and 35M) We each have a child (both 7) that revolves around them 99% of the time. We've lived together a year and a half and are planning to marry soon and have yet to take a really great vacation together just the two of us. No kids, no responsibilities, no worries. It's long overdue.
We'll be going mid September (which is why I originally chose a northern east coast because of hurricane season.)
I was originally looking into Atlantic City, NJ. Coastal, only a 2.5 hour drive to NYC that neither of us have experienced (which we've planned on visiting). My boyfriend is a big poker player. So casinos are a must. Planned on driving the 9 hours from our hometown, no problem.
But then I thought of Vegas. Flight, hotel, car in Vegas isn't much more than a hotel in Atlantic City.
So I'm a little torn between the two now. Has anyone been to both and have a recommendation?
I'd love to experience both. I love the beach idea, with a day trip to NYC, but a 4 night trip to Vegas has also piqued my interest and they both fit in our budget.
Which would you suggest?
(I'll also add we'll be going to Florida coast with our kids in July this year, so a beach resort isn't a must have, as we'll be getting our "beach fill" in July. Not that I wouldn't love a romantic beach with my boyfriend, just open to different ideas).

COVID-19 Transit Impacts in US/Canada for 2020-05-18

😷 Wear a mask as you're coming back. I'm posting these with a historical intent. Links where possible, and let me know if your local is missing.
NOTE: MOST AGENCIES ARE ASKING FOR ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY -- MEDICAL AND SUPPLY RUNS, JOB TRANSIT FOR THOSE WHO PROVIDE THOSE SERVICES. STAY HOME! EXPECT DELAYS AS THEY RUN CRITICALLY LOW ON STAFF.
Many agencies are requiring you wear a mask. Most ask you board from the back, and are putting limits on passenger boarding. Mask requirements are marked with "⚠️" and are because of state orders.
If the agency has a pass app, please pay for the ride through it -- it helps the agency!
(I have also taken the time to clean up and organize the list a bit)

Country-wide

Virgin/Trop online NJ Blackjack Money Maker circa 2017?

okay so I just want to know if anyone else was aware of this. Before you get too excited, unless they are total idiots, this doesn't work anymore. And if it does and the casino is actually open (Tropicana Atlantic City), have at it. Just make sure you let me know.
So, there was a promotion when you would originally download either the Virgin and/or Tropicana casino apps. These apps were really only for people in the NYC/NJ/PA area because to collect winnings you had to go to the window at the Trop. So, you create a new account, one on each app. You have to put in your SSN and show yr ID at the window so no fake names. But you do get to tell people who sent you and although the account that sent you would probably get closed down after awhile, they still got tons of free online gambling money for every person who wrote their name down. Now, you would go to 7-11 and get a Money Gram for $200 because these two apps were simultaneously running promos where your first $100 spent playing black jack was returned to you. This is the glitch: When you play one $100 hand of black jack, whether you lose, win, or get 21, the $100 goes into your account. So you could make, between the 2 sites, $600. The worst case is you would break even. You could collect the $200 (one from trop, one from Virgin), $400 (winna winna chicken dinna) or $600 (21.21.) at a specific window in the Tropicana casino. My friend and I did this with over 400 people: turning them on to it, keeping half their winnings because without us they wouldnt win anything at all, often fronting them the money.

Does it still work? I'm scared to look.
Is this frowned upon or brilliant?
Me, I say brilliant because all the casinos not only have the advantage but it's been proven that they take advantage of glambling addicts by using slot machine algorythms that help put addicts in "the zone" where the dopamine is flowing and OH! So close! Almost Won! and have found, when it comes to slots at least, that when someone gets an "almost" (really, no such thing but that's kind of obvious) that their brain reacts in the exact same way it would if they had gotten a "win" that time: same lighted pathways, same release of same amount of chemicals, same addictive stuff. So, no, I don't feel bad. And if you think I should, walk through the AC bus station one day and then tell me how you feel about it.

N.J. restaurants NOT reopening for indoor dining this week after ‘knucklehead’ crowds at bars ruin it for everyone

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 68%. (I'm a bot)
New Jersey will not reopen indoor dining this week as planned in the first major reversal of the state's Phase 2 coronavirus reopening plan, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday.
Indoor dining was scheduled to resume Thursday along with several other big reopening steps including Atlantic City casinos, amusement parks, boardwalk rides and arcades ahead of the busy July 4th weekend.
Murphy cited recent scenes from expanded outdoor bar and restaurants showing packed crowds not wearing masks and ignoring social distancing as a reason from pausing indoor dining indefinitely.
Murphy had provided the detailed restrictions for indoor dining at restaurants on Saturday, but changed his mind just two days later.
"So the national situation, compounded by instances of knucklehead behavior here at home, are requiring us to hit pause on the restart of indoor dining for the foreseeable future."
Murphy warned people last week the administration would crack down on those violating safety guidelines after the first round of viral videos surfaced from the Jersey Shore and other bar-heavy locations showing large unmasked crowds jammed into newly opened outdoor dining areas.

GF's [22F] mom's crazy behavior is straining our relationship and I'm [28M] becoming increasingly concerned after she took a knife to her own throat (cross-post from R/relationships)

I never thought I would fall victim to the whole "girlfriend's crazy mom" thing but I think my experiences might be some of the worst. My girlfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for about seven months, I'm from the Midwest and she's from the East Coast. Our relationship is nearly perfect apart from the discord caused by her mother, who is becoming increasingly unstable and threatening not just our relationship but the mental well-being of her daughter.
As a very brief backstory: we met on tinder in March, hit it off, facetimed every day for a month and half and by the time I visited her for the first time in May, we were officially together (things just clicked...she is amazing otherwise I would never put up with her deranged mother). She goes to school in the city but commutes and lives in the suburbs with her mom and dad; and in May I stayed with her family for over a week. Most of the disturbing anecdotes happened with my second visit there and onward, but even within five minutes of meeting her mom for the first time, I got a "this woman is gonna be a piece of work" vibe. From that first visit she would call her daughter at least ten times a day; and if she doesn't answer? She'll literally keep calling a dozen times in a row on repeat. I would later find out she most likely has bipolar disorder as well as potentially more mental illness (at her most recent visit just weeks ago her personal doctor she's known for years called her "crazy"- verbatim - and said she needed professional help; she dismissed it as his overreacting). Her brother is also a hospitalized schizophrenic with a long, sad mental health history. It runs in her family. It's also important to note by my GF's own admission "her parents know I'm the best guy she's ever brought home" and I say it not with hubris but candor that I'm great with parents and always exceptionally cordial, so it's not like I did anything to outright irk the mom. I'm a few years older than my GF, but her mom and dad not only have the identical age gap but married young at 21 and it's not an issue.
Anyway, my second visit to my GF's house is when it really became apparent her mom was truly...crazy; and each day seemed to progressively get worse. My GF and I had to rush home from the city to meet her mom and dad for a movie- which her mom promptly made us leave 30 min in because it was too violent (ironic given her behavior).
We go up to a cabin in the Poconos for most of the week to spend time with my GF's dad's family including her elderly grandma (it should be noted my GF's dad is a meek man and a total push over for the mom); but her mom just complains the entire time and is visibly annoyed having to be with these people. She ends up spending each night off at a casino feeding her gambling addiction (more on that later) and ends up leaving the Poconos early to spend the rest of the week gambling in Atlantic City; but not before complaining the whole time about things as trivial as being inexplicably jealous over my GF's grandma's sleeping arrangements or offer her continuously critique of my GF's diet (my GF is a fit girl and was on vacation so dieting wasn't priority; not to mention how hypocritical it was as her mother is extremely obese).
My GF and I get back from the Poconos on Friday and her parents return next morning from Atlantic City. That Sunday we planned (weeks in advance I might add) on going to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival and Hershey PA...well, her mom informs us last minute she's having her grandma's (mom's mom, different from the Poconos grandma) birthday party that day (party is an overstatement- it's the mom, the dad, my GF, and her grandma. That's it). My GF was surprised as her grandma's birthday isn't for days, but her mom decided to make it early and also mandatory for me and my GF; when my GF informed her we had plans her mom said it's ok- we don't have to be back til 2 or 3..now the festival is a big outdoor event and would take a few hours to drive to let alone explore, not to mention check out Hershey PA after; so our plans were effectively quashed- and my GF and I planned this all a while in advance.
We hurriedly moved everything up a day and rushed to do it that Saturday to clear Sunday for the birthday, but it didn't matter because the mom had a TOTAL MELTDOWN anyway. By late morning Sunday I am hearing screaming coming from downstairs- her mom is flipping out about planning for the party. I stayed hidden upstairs in my gf's bed (they live in a small house and it's a weird set up- it's like the whole upstairs is her mini apartment and the parents live downstairs) while I heard the mom wailinggg for hours before she finally stormed out in exasperation. They were either fighting over inane things like her mom micromanaging her or her mom making sweeping and false generalizations about my GF insinuating malfeasance or disobedience. Her dad came up to me after and apologized like a dog with its tail in between its legs.
As a brief aside, it's important to establish my GF is a living Saint and the example of a perfect daughter. She dotes on her parents continuously (cooks practically every meal for them, does everything for them- if you can think of it she does it) and works so much she has two jobs. Any accusations by her mom of anything less than diligence and hard work are utter lunacy.
Two days after the birthday "party", I'm waiting for my GF to come home from her morning shift but I knew something was awry when she texted how her mom came into work; long story short her mom ends up losing her mind again, this time over risqué photos of my GF she found on my GF's computer. Her mom will sometimes ask to use my GF's computer as it's the only one in their family, and her mom claims there was a "link" to the photos that she easily clicked on (I find this highly suspect as my GF showed me where she hid the photos and I remember being surprised how well hidden they were). As I'm sure it's no surprise, her mom has another meltdown. Now if I were a parent, my reaction personally would have been to close the computer, red faced and mentally scarred, and then maybe write a TIFU "I accidentally saw naked pictures of my daughter" etc; or if you felt compelled to say something, do it with tact...but no, her her mom makes it a point to embarrass my GF into a drawn out prolonged ordeal, calling her reprehensible names and telling us to leave, even telling her grandma. We're halfway to my friend's apartment in the city when her mom orders her back threatening to throw her out if she doesn't. So we go back and my GF leaves me in the car while she goes in. FIFTY minutes she talks to them while I waited anxiously in the car (later she told me how heated it got; when her mom asked why she took the photos she said sobbing in front of her mom and dad that she's "in a long distance relationship and would rather masturbate to her having sex with her BF" by watching videos of us). Then my GF comes out, ushering me back in. And this is what's weird- in about two minutes her mom moved on from the dirty photos subject that she was formerly foaming at the mouth over. I never even had a chance to excuse or explain myself. Instead her mom tries to say she didn't realize how serious we were as a couple and it was a surprise...and then she starts asking me really weird, personal information about my student loans (I have a BA and a JD). I start to wonder what's going on and why she's asking questions like that and the minute I said I wasn't comfortable discussing something with my GF's parents that I haven't even discussed with my own GF yet, it was like something snapped instantly. She seemed incensed and got super offended and seemed almost enraged I said the word "uncomfortable". Her own husband agreed with me and actually said anyone would feel that way in that situation to which she just goes "no, no, no, no" shaking her head, getting up from her chair and walking into the kitchen yelling nonsensical stuff berating my GF once again and forcing me to leave.
I stay the night in the city with my friend planning on returning the next night...but her mom was still pissy and wanted to be alone. My friend had to leave that night, so I was forced to buy a hotel to sleep at alone while my GF endured another nightly barrage of verbal torment from her mom.
Apparently, I was able to come home the next day because my GF struck a "bargain" that she would do whatever her mom needed so I could stay (since she already did everything but wipe them, idk how this was a deal). So she gets me from the hotel after her shift and we plan on going to this historic tower with stunning views, it's open til 4 each day and it's our last day to be able to go because the next couple days we were going to Atlantic City before I left (her mom's gambling addiction gives her free rooms). When her mom finds out, she goes ballistic. Apparently my GF told her mom that she would vacuum the living room and Lysol the counters, and her mom was flipping out because it couldn't wait. My GF told her she would do it after 4 pm when the tower closed, just to wait literally an hour so we could make the tower before close, but her mom was immune to reason, wailing that it was a "promise" etc; so because of her mom's inability to compromise or recognize a contingency we missed seeing the tower so she could vacuum a floor. I had her drop me off at the local library to avoid any contact with the mom for that night (24 hours and we would be in Atlantic city).
The mom went to Atlantic City to ostensibly check us in to the hotel but in reality was a thinly veiled excuse to tag along to fuel her gambling addiction. Unlike her bipolar disorder her addiction is well documented with counseling and everything - she's actually banned from her local casinos hence her eagerness to cross state lines to Atlantic City, NJ. She tried crashing our dinner plans- two nights in a row - but quick thinking saying we had already made reservations shook her off...but the entire weekend in Atlantic city she was there gambling in the underbelly of the casino, and of course calling/texting her daughter an insane amount of times.
After I came home, things were not great between my GF and her mom but they came to a head when her mom came into her work and said "your dealer came to our house" and how she wanted my GF out...my GF came to find out her mom read her diary and happened upon an old entry where she talked about finding a new guy to buy weed from (she would never in a million years have someone come to her house). As if the invasive diary reading wasn't enough, she further tormented my GF screaming that whole night culminating in the mom holding a knife to her own (the mom's) throat threatening to kill herself. My GF said that was the worst it's ever been because in the past she "would just grab knives, never hold them to her throat". I was aghast - this behavior wasn't the first time?!
Her mom said more cruel stuff since, including chastising her dad for his infertility (my GF broke down crying mentioning this and that how her mom has never went that far...they used a donor years ago to conceive her). She also shows wild inconsistency: for example while I was there she complained about not getting to see me and my GF and that my GF and I were doing too much stuff on our own; then in the next breath of the same conversation complained she had no space with me there (she's clearly conjuring that in her head as I stay out of sight out of mind hidden in GF's room or out with her whenever possible)...this echoes a larger flip/flop sentiment she's had with my GF, complaining that my GF spends too much time with her friends and not enough at home then saying the opposite that my GF needs to get her own place.
Right now her mom is flipping out because I bought her a ticket to come for Halloween weekend (Thursday-Monday) but she "already visited once this month" during the first weekend of October (although I feel the real reason is that her mom just wants to object and is looking for any excuse). She got so angry she started breaking things all over and even got in a physical brawl with my GF's dad. She even took the day off she's so worked up about it.
My GF and I are in a long distance relationship already and she's going to study abroad next semester so until I visit I her abroad in 4 or 5 months I'm only going to maybe see her Christmas break and a few days around thanksgiving, so it's not like Halloween weekend is the end of the world. My GF is very responsible when she sees me- it's just a long weekend after all, she makes up missed classes and gets shifts covered. She's quite literally hurting no one seeing me, not to mention at no cost as I payed for the ticket...but because my GF "promised" she would only see me that one weekend this month (an empty promise to supplicate when her mom was being crazy about visiting), she is refusing to listen to reason and see how a long weekend isn't a big deal. My GF spends every Halloween weekend away anyway- there's no difference between spending it with me and spending it with other friends.
A final note- I can't stress what a kind, loving person my GF is. I've never seen someone more gifted with children or with a bigger heart. She shows nothing of her mom's repugnant traits. Her mom also had breast cancer about 8 years ago, so there is certainly a vestigial fear of losing her from that.
The question is twofold: - in the short term, is there anyway to convince her mom how absurd she is being regarding Halloween weekend? I have already not only bought the plane ticket but made plans including arranging her meeting my grandma (who was hospitalized twice in the last couple weeks, she doesn't have long I want her to meet my GF). - And secondly, what can I or more likely my GF do to convince her mother that her behavior is irrational, dangerous, and that she needs to seek help? She said because her mom works at a hospital her mom would never wanna admit she needs help- although she said her mom could be convinced for group/family therapy.
TL;DR: My GF's mom is mentally unstable, tormenting our relationship and my GF, and culminating in physical violence; episodes like reading my GF's diary or finding risqué photos just set her off more and more until she does things like take a knife to her own throat; what solutions exist in the short and long term?

Hello everyone!

Tonight we have a wonderful divisional match up to look at. But first, lets recap yesterdays plays.
Singles: 9-6 (+5.2u) Ayyyye, as the data grows, the algo gets better. Singles should stabilize and grow, and by diversifying an abundance our plays we should reduce variance
Parlay: 1-0 (+53u) Whooooo! Our first parlay to pay. This is a great start moving forward. Being able to maximize the free plays and bonus dollars that sites give up adds fantastic, low risk, growth opportunities for the bankroll.
BBDLS: 0-2 (-1.65u) Soooo close here! The (0.3u) wager that included the New England play (+18000) in it missed by a few yards on a toss over the secondary to Edleman. That would have been the highest odds of a play, so far, to cash by this model.
SBBDLS: 0-1(-0.5u) This is an experiment I would like to track this year. I call it my Super Big Boy Daddy Long Shot because it is a parlay card at the Ocean Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. (I am sure they have them all over) It is $5 to win $100,000. They usually give between 17-19 selections and you have to go a perfect 15-15 ATS. The spreads are locked when the cards print and occasionally they cancel a games eligibility because a line has moved too much. Last year in the last 8 weeks of the season I went 11, 11, 14, 13, 12, 14, 14, 14 out of 15. In the last 3 weeks of the season when i went 14-15 I was putting in 32 combinations of cards :P \**This is most likely a losing play long term, but who doesn't love a good underdog story! :D*
Teasers: 0-3 (-4.5u) You may notice that I only had one teaser play in my post. The other two losses I commented on early in the day. They were teasers I filled out for bets in the casino. I never posted them, but they still need to count towards totals!!

Monday Night Football (8:15pm)

Detroit @ Green Bay(-3.5/4): We have a tough divisional match up between two probable playoff teams. This game should have some major implications in that playoff seeding. This line opened up at 5.5 (As high as 6.5 at the Coast in Vegas) but has seemed to settle around 3.5, with one 4 available to me. The Lions are coming off a bye after a close loss to KC in a shootout. The Pack are coming off an unexpected win in Dallas that seemed a little bit too easy. First we look at GB offense. Davante Adams is out. Aaron Jones is coming off a HUGE game with 100 yards rushing and 7 receptions for 75 yards. How will he and Rodgers match up against a rested (off a loss and a bye) defense from the Lions that currently has held QBs to an 80.3 (5th) passer rating and 58% (3rd) completion percentage with 7 interceptions! (Tied for 2nd before yesterdays games) Another thing going for the Detroit defense is the probable returns of cornerback Darius Slay and safety Quandre Diggs. These could be very impactful, especially since top WR thread Adams is already off the field and with him, Green Bay has only been completing 30% on third down,. On the flip side, the GB D allows 138 yards rushing per game. As we saw in the Philly/GB game, if a team can utilize rushing, they can have success against Green Bay. Lastly we are going to look at the betting numbers. If we look at the sites for public betting percentages, we see most places have the tickets: GB points around 65% and GB moneyline around 70-75%. Yet the spread and moneylines have decreased. This is usually an indication of professional money on one side, while the public is on the other side. Easy to see in the context of this match up: The majority of the public hasn't seen the lions since they were defeated in a shootout two weeks ago. While the most recent memory for Green Bay is a high scoring smashing on the road in Dallas. As Monday night games are one of the absolute best to fade the public ( the average bettor is either trying to recoup their loses or free roll grow their winnings), I will be rolling with the road dogs tonight. Game script wise, I like them to look to get a lead, utilize the run game, and control the time of possession in what I hope is a low scoring affair. 22-24 Lions would be nice :D
Here is the graph showing the RLM against the public betting percentage.

https://preview.redd.it/jikpr8e49ls31.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=e988bc8338743f4b01bd4bac49110654583a453e
Singles 34-37 (-3.25u)
  • Already have Det ML in my parlay and the under in a teaser. The only other single I looked at was Kerryon Johnson props
Parlays: 1-1 (+50u)
  • Pittsburgh ML, Detriot ML, NY Giants ML, Jacksonville ML, 49ers ML (4.58u to win 126.6u)
Big Boy Daddy Long Shot 0-3 (-2.23u)
  • None
Super Big Boy Daddy Long Shot: 0-1 (-0.5u)
  • None
Teasers: 2-8 (-11.8u)
  • Detroit +10, Total 53 Under (2u to win 1.82u)

Thanks for reading and good luck to all!

Trump-Russia connections in New Jersey?

Hi all, first thread in this forum.
I was doing some research about the Russian "illegals" program in the US (which the TV show The Americans is based on) and I found the exact case that the aforementioned show was specifically based on:
https://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/06/accused_russian_spies_lived_un.html
Here are some key excerpts, with my bolding:

The "Murphys" were arrested Sunday at their home in Montclair and charged along with nine others from three states in what authorities have described as a sweeping strike against a "deep cover" espionage network. It is unclear how much information the suspects successfully gathered, but authorities said they went to elaborate lengths to remain undercover for years.
The charging documents read like the pages of a Tom Clancy thriller, telling of agents spending years developing the story lines of their fake identities — or legends — to blend into American society. They often operated in pairs, passing themselves off as husband and wife at their posts in New Jersey, Boston, New York and Virginia. Some, authorities say, were assigned by Moscow to have children to complete the facade.
Their ultimate goal was to recruit sources who could infiltrate U.S. policy-making and financial circles. And their orders came directly from Russia, authorities said.

Then I remembered that Trump was heavily involved in a bunch of (mostly failed) ventures in New Jersey throughout the 1980s and 290s, most notoriously, the Atlantic City casinos. This would have been the period where he was going deep into debt, right?

From the same article:
The Murphys came to the United States in the mid-1990s, living first in a Hoboken apartment. In fall of 2008, they moved to a beige two-story colonial with red shutters on Marquette Road in Montclair.
But here's where some context on Trump's side will be helpful. From a different article:

Everybody in New Jersey politics has a Trump story. That's because for more than a quarter-century, Trump, self-proclaimed political outsider, played the ultimate insider's game in New Jersey, where political deals require relationships and cash.
Trump golfed and broke bread with every major political power broker in the state. He used sweet talk, like with Kean, but he also deployed attack ads, like with former Gov. Christie Todd Whitman. He spent millions on New Jersey lobbyists, lawyers, spokespeople and political operatives, many of whom then contributed money to important politicians. This is how he survived his many failures, and how he caught a lot of breaks.
Trump built his name-brand off his New Jersey casinos, all of which went bankrupt. He bought a professional football team, the New Jersey Generals, which lasted just two years. And he opened three golf courses, which pay little in taxes. All along the way, Trump took a hands-on approach to politics.

"You couldn’t be in public office in New Jersey in the 80s and 90s and not have frequent encounters with Donald Trump," said Bob Torricelli, a former New Jersey congressman and U.S. Senator who was, until recently, a member of Trump's Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago. "He was as much a fixture in the state as the Turnpike or the Shore."

Trump operated in New Jersey with no partisan leanings.
"Donald did not content himself with simply speaking with governors or senators," Torricelli said. "He actually built relationships in political organizations and through the political hierarchy."

https://www.wnyc.org/story/trump-self-proclaimed-outsider-began-new-jersey-political-inside
Now, we're all aware that Trump was on the Russian radar as early as the late 70s, and certainly by 1987, which I think is the critical initial year for the Trump-Russia relationship. MY question, then: Would those Russian intelligence officers, operating deep undercover "illegals" ie. living in suburban New Jersey for over a decade and pretending to be Americans, and who had orders "directly from Russia" to "recruit sources who could infiltrate U.S. policy-making and financial circles," have been aware of the (notoriously corrupt, by the way) political and business dynamics of the state in which they were residing? Did they have any contact with people in Trump's orbit? Did they collect intelligence on him and his associates in New Jersey? Just how far down does the rabbit hole go?

According to discogs, 2+ new (AFAIK) Mitch Hedberg sets were released in the new vinyl boxset. Have they turned up online?

https://www.discogs.com/Mitch-Hedberg-Mitch-Hedberg-The-Complete-Vinyl-Collection/release/9299832
4-01 Opening For The Neville Brothers (Early Show-2_11_95)
4-02 Opening For The Neville Brothers (Late Show-2_11_95)
Not sure if these are the same or something else:
D1 Opening For The Neville Brothers
D2 February 11th, 1995 (early Show)
D3 TropWorld Casino, Atlantic City, NJ
04 Opening For The Neville Brothers
I don't recall ever hearing these, but I'd love to, as I'm sure the rest of the sub would. Point us in their direction, or hell, upload 'em if you got the fancy boxset! That'd be much appreciated. Cheers.
EDIT: It'd be shameful for me not to mention that SiriusXM did a Mitch tribute back in October, consisting of an audio documentary, an interview with his widow Lynn, and
an exclusive world premiere of a Hedberg performance that has never been played publicly. The recording was meant for Hedberg’s internal use only- the kind of recording comedians make when they’re working on material. (http://theinterrobang.com/mitch-hedberg-documentary-air-siriusxm-monday/)
Haven't the seen latter two pop up.

"I didn't know I couldn't do that"

I work in Nightlife for a couple Casinos in Atlantic City, NJ. While there are a million an a half stories involving celebrities, millionaires, and just a million stupid people, my favorites are all the people who come before we are open.
For one of our nightclubs the entire wall is glass, so you can clearly see the entire club from the outside. Yet we still get people that when it is clearly empty and not open yet, try to enter in through any doorway they can. When I inform them we are not open yet, since I'm usually outside just before we open, they always give the same response: "oh we just wanted to look around" I understand your curiosity, but we aren't open, when have you ever been allowed to enter a place to look around if they werent open?
Another is when I catch people hopping over the Bottle service lines. When I catch them they always say the same thing: "oh, I didn't know I couldn't do that" What the fuck do you think the rope is there for?!

Need help finding a reasonable dentist

So my boyfriend (32) and I (27) have taken the big steps to live with each other and honestly, he is my soul mate. I would do anything for him. I don't ever want to see him in pain.
Lately, I've been noticing that he hasn't been brushing his teeth regularly. I've always noticed that his gums would bleed when we would stand next to each other brushing our teeth in the morning, but it wasn't a lot of blood. I sat him down the other day and asked him, as politely as I could, why he's not been brushing his teeth.
He broke down and told me because it hurts too much so he'll Listerine but it pains him. He says his teeth hurt 24/7 and he doesn't know what to do.
He said that when he was growing up, his family was very very verrry poor. He didn't get dental insurance until 13 years old and when he did go, it wasn't a dentist that had his best interest at heart. The dentist did all kinds of work on him that kind of messed his teeth up in his adult years. He's got some broken molars in the back and one tooth in the front that he says kills him daily.
His job entails him to speak to people face to face every day. Meetings, marketing deals... So on and he said that he is mortified to open his mouth because he knows people are judging him. This broke my heart. He does every thing for this city (Atlantic City) to keep it running and to keep the local music scene alive and it hurts my heart that he's becoming more and more ashamed of talking to people face to face because of his teeth.
We don't have much money. I'm on Medicaid and NJ Family Care while I'm in transition of jobs and it doesn't cover him, obviously. He had insurance when he worked at one of the casinos 3 years ago but when they let him go, he lost his insurance. So he's been going on now with no health insurance. "Technically" on paper, he makes too much to qualify for NJ Family Care and Medicaid... He makes only like 5-7k over what they require. I've asked the office and he wouldn't qualify even if we pushed for it.
I don't know what to do. I want to get him the help he needs so that he can succeed and feel comfortable with himself.
I'm reaching out here, being 110% vulnerable bringing this up in hopes that someone out there knows a dentist that can take a look at his teeth and maybe work out a reasonable payment plan or what not. I don't know how any of this works without insurance but he can't go on like this anymore... Not brushing his teeth, his mouth bleeding and teeth causing so much pain everyday.
If anyone has any recommendations or knows what I can do... Please let me know. My heart is hurting for him and I just want him to feel wonderful.
EDIT: I am not picky on where the dentist is located. I would drive to freakin Canada if I had to for him.

Franchise location idea

Over the past week or so, a few of the casinos that make Atlantic City, New Jersey such a hot destination have said they will be closing. This may not sound like an MLS related subject, but it brings me to my point:
Why doesn't New Jersey get a franchise of there own?
I know many will say that the Redbulls are NJ's team, but when you call yourself "New York", you're not cutting it. And NYRB plays further North in NJ, which really only attracts the community near them.
Besides, New Jersey is a soccer rich state. Many great players have come from the Garden State, including Tim Howard, Mike Bradley, Giuseppe Rossi, and many other national teamers and MLS players.
Atlantic City would be perfect. It's in more southern Jersey, already is a key city, and will have open land when these casinos are closed.

I have no title for my fucked up life, so I'm just going to write it all down. (Super long)

Well, let's start it off back when I was 6 years old. I really don't have any memories before then anyway. On December 12th, 1988, I was on my mom's lap while she was sitting on the stairs. Across from us, my dad was sitting on the loveseat watching TV. My brother-in-law was sitting on the couch relaxing before he went to work. It was your typical morning, everything was going just fine until my mom had a heart attack. I remember her leaning back on the stairs and basically going limp. I remember my dad rushing over to pick me up and hand me to my brother-in-law. I didn't know what was going on but the way they were panicking and checking on my mom I knew something was wrong. My brother-in-law then drove me to my grandma's house which was only 3 blocks away. I remember as we were pulling away from the house seeing the ambulance pull up outside with the sirens and lights going off.
So now I'm at my grandmother's house, and she puts on The Wizard of Oz for me. I remember her crying majority of the time, but she wouldn't tell me what was going on whenever I asked her why everybody was acting weird. I ended up watching The Wizard of Oz three fucking times. To this day, I hate that movie, and haven't watched it since. Then my dad showed up to pick me up later that night. He was crying pretty bad. I remember him hugging me and telling me mom was dead. Seeing both him and my grandmother crying led me to start crying. Believe it or not, that was the last time I cried up until very recently, but I'll tell you about that when I get there. I didn't even cry at her funeral. This is the only memory I have of my mom and the earliest memory of my life that I remember. Kind of fucked up, right? To this day, this scene plays over and over in my head. I'll never forget it.
So after my mom died, two of my sisters moved back into the house with my dad to help him move on from the loss. To help babysit me and take care of me while my dad worked. My dad was a workaholic, he would work 12 hours a day basically 3/4ths of the month, so I never really saw him. So here we are, my dad, my 3 older sisters (18, 21, and 23 years old), their kids, and their husbands and boyfriend, and me all living in a 3 bedroom, 2 story house.
8 months go by after my mom's death, and my dad is lonely, I mean he did just lose the love of his life. They were together for 30 years. My dad was not someone who could function without a relationship, so he went out looking to find someone. He ended up with the worst choice I could have ever imagined. This evil lady has ruined our family and separated us from him. He was in love, though. So he basically shut all of us out of his life and let her rule his life for him.
So now it's my dad, my stepbrother, stepsister, and I living in the house. All of my sisters left because of this women. She hated me from the start, I didn't do anything to this women at all to deserve the treatment she gave me. She would lie to my dad and tell him that I would call her names, throw stuff at her, and not listen to her. Tell him that I was a menace and needed to get punished. She wouldn't tell him this when he got home from work, though. She would wait until he was drunk. My dad was a heavy drinker and would drink after coming home from work. When he was drunk she would tell him these lies, and my dad would beat the living shit out of me. Throwing full beer cans at me, hitting me with anything he could find, and basically verbally abusing me because I was an "asshole" to my new "mother".
At 12 years old I going through a rough time in life. With all the abuse my dad was giving me because of my stepmother, and having no friends besides my mentally retarded stepsister and stepbrother. I was a weird kid. I was picked on at school constantly because I was the fat smelly kid. Nobody showed me the basics of life, I basically had to learn by myself how to wash myself, how to brush my teeth, and how to get dressed. Nobody told me anything about that, and apparently I failed at the hygiene department because kids are fucking assholes and let me know about it. So many times I got sent home from school because I smelled, and my dad or stepmother didn't do anything to help me out and show me how to properly bathe. I really wish my dad would have been so strict with me about overeating. I'm not going to blame him for that, because it's my fault that I ate all the time. But I feel he could have helped me out and not allowed me to eat whatever I wanted. That basically was the beginning stages of what my life would become, and I'll tell you about that when I get to it as well, because obesity plays a big role in my fucked up life.
I started hearing voices when I was 12 years old as well. It freaked me out because nobody was there. I didn't know what was going on. I was really scared. I tried telling my dad about what I was hearing but he wasn't having any of it. He claimed I was just seeking attention. I tried telling my sisters what was going on and got the same thing. It was so bad I even had a heart to heart with my stepmother and tried to convince her that something was going on with me, and that I was hearing voices that wanted me to hurt animals and people. I thought I got through to her and she would help me out, but I was wrong. She told my dad and yet again, I was beat for making up stories.
At 13 my stepmother and I got into a really huge fight that couldn't be fixed. So my stepmother made my dad give me away to one of my sisters or she would leave him. So he chose her over me. My dad unannounced, showed up to my oldest sister's house and told her this exact quote that I'll never forget, "Helen said it's either him or her, and I choose her because I can't get pussy from him, so you take him". And then he got back in his car and left. A couple years later my dad and stepmother was moving to Florida, and they wanted to take me with them. They promised me that shit would get better between us. They promised that it would be a fresh start for all of us. I decided to go with them and give it a shot. Nothing got any better, in fact shit got worse.
I'm now 15 years old and the voices are getting louder. It's not all of the voices that want me to do bad things. It's only one male voice in particular. He would only come around once a month and start demanding me to kick the neighbor, or squirt someone with a hose, or push, punch, kick someone at school. The only way he would leave me alone is if I did what he wanted. He would get so loud that I couldn't take it anymore and give in. The other voices weren't bad, though. They were actually kind of cool. I like to call them my radio station voices because they just basically added commentary to what was going on around me. They never demanded me to do things, they were just there. They were there 24/7 and never went away, I even hear them to this day. Yes, I'm aware that they are probably just my thoughts, but they seem very real to me. They are not inside my head, they are outside my head and sound like they are next to me having a conversation with me, but I can't see them. Occasionally I'll talk to them, but that can be really awkward when someone catches you talking to your voices. It's happened plenty of times lol.
I have done some horrible things in my life that I regret when it came to listening to my voices. I have harmed people, pets, and even started cutting myself. I got so tired of it I swallowed every single pill in my house and went into the garage to die. My plan backfired when my dad came into the garage to look for a tool and found me passed out. He called the ambulance and I got my stomach pumped. I didn't get committed, though. Which was fucked up, because I told the nurses I wanted to die and I would try to commit suicide again if they released me. Even they didn't believe I was hearing voices. I told them everything I did too. Even about harming neighbor's pets and even harming younger neighborhood kids. Nothing, I was set free.
I'm in 10th grade now and 16 years old. I've had enough of my dad's bullshit abuse. I want nothing more to do with his alcoholic, pussy-whipped ass anymore. I get home from school one day and we get into an argument because of my stepmother. I've never ever defended myself from him, hell, I was always scared of my dad. I believe that's normal for all young boys. You look at your dad as some kind of superhero who has all the strength in the world. Nothing felt better than the day I defended myself and punched him in his drunk fucking face. Unfortunately for me, the neighbors saw me punch him, so they called the cops and the cops arrested me. I went to juvenile for 3 weeks because of that. When I got out I ran away from home and never looked back.
I hitchhiked from Naples, FL to Pitman, NJ and it was the best time of my life. It took me 3 weeks to get there, but it was worth it. I gave my guitar to this kid at school for him to take me to the nearest truck stop on I75. Then from there I found a trucker that was going to Jacksonville. He was a cool old man who took me with him, we chatted about a bunch of stuff. When I told that I was running away he got kind of nervous and wanted to take me back. I assured him I wasn't going to tell anybody that he drove me there. I wasn't going to be a dick if I got caught, but from that point on I told everybody that I was 18 and trying to get back to NJ because a family member died. I ended up sleeping at the Greyhound station in Jacksonville for 3 days before finally finding a ride to Atlanta, Georgia. Jacksonville was a nice city, there was a lot of drugs at the Greyhound station, though. I had so many people come up to me and try to sell me hash, weed, coke, and even meth. It was crazy, and at 16 I couldn't believe that shit was happening out in the public like that during the day. It was quite an eye opening experience for me. So I ended up getting a ride from a young couple to a truck stop outside of Atlanta. At this truck stop I found a trucker who was going to Maine, he said he would give me a ride to NJ, which was awesome because that was where I needed to go anyway. So as we pull out from the truck, he says to me, "Hey man, have you ever tried Acid?". I told him no, and he proceeded to give me a paper hit. I took it and tripped balls for a long ass time. I lost track of time, so I have no clue how long it took us to get to NC, but somewhere in NC he started to ask me really perverted questions. We stopped at a truck stop and he proceeded to put his hand on my knee and started rubbing it. I asked him to stop, but he wouldn't. I then proceeded to punch him in the face and got out of the truck stop and ran inside to the truck stop, I figured that would be the safest bet for me because he wouldn't even try to come inside and grab me. There was no way he would do that. So I waited 3 hours until the fucker left and then found someone to take me to the Fayetteville, NC greyhound bus station.
Let me tell you something about the greyhound bus station in Fayetteville. It was one of the worst places I have ever been in my life. It's a real bad area down there. I also got robbed for the first time in my life while inside the bus station. This black dude pulled a knife on me inside the bathroom and stole my backpack full of clothes and other little shit I had with me like my cds and cd player. This one guy walked into the bathroom and basically broke it up before anything else could happen. He then proceeded to take me to a truck stop outside of Fayetteville. I stayed there for 5 days until I found a ride with a group of teenagers going back to Baltimore from Disney World. They were really cool too, we smoked weed all the way up I94 too. That was probably the best time I've ever had. In Baltimore I found an older couple in a RV that took me to Philly. Then once I got to Philly I took the NJ Transit bus to my sisters house. She was surprised when I showed up. Apparently my dad never told them that I ran away from home, so it was all a shocker to them.
From 16 to 18 I basically bounced sister to sister. I went from NJ to Detroit, MI, back to NJ, back to Detroit, and then back to NJ again. I basically watched my nephews and nieces for my sisters in order to live there so they didn't have to pay a babysitter. It worked out for all parties. I made sure I didn't stay at one place too long to wear out my welcome.
Once I turned 18 I went to a young adult homeless shelter for young kids in Atlantic City called The Covenant House. I have really bad paranoia and anxiety from my voices, which leads to panic attacks at random times. I had a bad episode with my voices and they sent me to the mental health unit in Atlantic City. Who then committed me into Ancora State Mental Health Hospital. I was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder, which is basically someone who suffers from Schizophrenia and a mood disorder, most like bipolar or depression. IN my case it was severe depression. I was stuck there for 6 months. I don't recommend going to a state hospital, they don't care about your health. Their goal was just to keep you there as long as possible to milk the insurance money. In Ancora I applied and got approved for SSI, so something good came out of it in the end I guess. Once I got out of there I ended up going to a homeless shelter in Camden, NJ. This place is the worst place I've ever been in my life. I got robbed, beat up, pushed around, and fucked with just about every day I was there because I was the fat white kid. It was horrible, I had to leave, I couldn't survive there, I knew I would end up dead if I stayed. So I went to a homeless shelter in Philly, which was a little better. Still was the ghetto, but at least I didn't get robbed every other day.
During this time I would go spend my days at a library in Philly and just read books and use the internet. I started talking to this girl on AIM one night from a chatroom. She was my age and from West Virginia. We hit it off very well, this was the first girl that was ever interested in me. So I thought I was in love. Fast forward 3 years, I was staying in my band's practice shed behind the lead guitarist/vocalist's house. We were a punk band who played fast, loud, and crazy music. We booked a show in Virginia and I told that girl I was talking to, to meet up with me at the show since she was only 45 minutes away. So we meet up at the show, and afterwards I went back to her place. The band went back to NJ the next morning. I told the band I would take a greyhound in a few days to get back. The girl and I fucked all night long, and really hit it off. I never left.
This girl and I ended up getting married 6 months later. I know, we moved way too fast, this was the first time I've ever gotten any poontang and I thought I was in love. My life was finally changing for the better and I was finally stabilized in life with a roof over my head. I was happy! During this time I got extremely fat. I mean, I was always the fat kid, but when I met this girl I was around 350 pounds. Fast forward 6 years and I'm now over 800+ pounds. I ended up getting hospitalized because I couldn't walk. I was so swollen with fluid at the time my legs were huuuuuge. I couldn't even wobble along because they were so fat. When I got to the hospital I got on a bed scale, and I error'd the scale. The bed scale only went up to 800 pounds. It was at the moment I realized that I'm really throwing my life away, and I needed to lose weight. I just didn't have the motivation to do it, so I struggled with it for a few.
Anywho, I suspected something was up with the wife. She wasn't the same anymore. Something about her has changed, she started distancing herself from me. I decided to check the bank account one day to see what was up since she was using the "I'm going to my dad's house for a few hours" excuse like 4 times a week. Which was weird because her dad and her never really got along that well. So when I checked the bank account I was seeing charges on the debit card to a Chinese buffet place in town, the charges were usually $25, which is the equivalent of two buffet dinner meals. I know for sure that I wasn't eating at the Chinese buffet several times a week.
So instead of questioning her I decided to snoop around on her computer (I know, it's fucked up and I shouldn't have done that, I still feel guilty for breaking someone's trust). I saw a forums that she frequently visited all the time. It was then that I found out my wife was a secret feeder. I don't know if you what a feeder is, but it's basically someone who gets off on feeding someone so they get fatter. Once I read her posts that she was posting I felt sick because it all made sense. At the time I thought maybe she was just a freak and liked food play. Maybe she really got off on baking brownies and giving them to me before we would get it on. Maybe she just really liked baking sweets and giving them to her man. I was so oblivious to this it hurts whenever I think about it. I had no clue what a feeder was, and if I would have known in advanced I would have never agreed to it before.
I confronted her about everything and she confessed she was having an affair with her best friend's husband. At first, I just wanted to leave, but I couldn't I was so fat I couldn't go anywhere. So I moved out onto the couch and slept there for the next 6 months saving up every penny I had. I ended up having this dream about my mom. She came to me in my dream and told me that I needed to change my life because she couldn't protect me anymore. I woke up the next day terrified as hell. She never came out and said she was protecting me from death, but I can only assume that was the case. So I started to diet and lose weight. Right when I was getting ready to leave back to NJ the wife begged for me to stay. Telling me she was sorry and we could work it out. Stupidly, I stayed and gave her another chance. This was the first girlfriend I've ever had. The first poontang I touched. I didn't want to lose her, I loved this girl even with the fucked up shit I found out about her. Even with the fucked up cheating she did to me.
Two weeks go by and she is getting distant with me again. So this time, I confront her again and ask her what's up. She confessed that she started having another affair with a client from her job. I was livid, and mainly heartbroken, again. This time I was leaving, there was no 3rd chance to fuck me over. Not only for cheating on me again, but with a client of hers! she works at a fucking HIV/AIDS clinic for fucks sake. Not only is she putting herself at risk, but she put me at risk for it. I lost my cool and broke just about everything in the house. I went into the mental hospital for 3 weeks because I was losing my cool and my voices were fucking me hardcore about hurting her. I didn't want to hurt her. When I got out of the mental hospital I left. Every 6 months for the next 2 years I got tested and thankfully came up negative every time.
So now I'm 28 years old, living with my youngest sister in NJ again. My main focus is losing weight. Which I did with a vengeance. I wanted my weight gone and I wanted my life back. For two years I went hardcore on my diet and got down to 440 pounds. I was feeling better than I have ever felt in my life. I was almost happy again. Then I met this chick over Facebook from Boston. We started chatting every day over messenger. She drove 6 hours to come see me one weekend. We went to Atlantic City and stayed at a casino hotel since she has never seen Atlantic City before. She loved it! I really thought I ruined any chance I had with her though. She drove 6 hours to see me and I was too damn shy to make a move that night. I honestly didn't think she would ever talk to me again, but she did. We kept on seeing each other once a month for a year. She would drive down to see me, and then I would rent a car and drive up to see her. Eventually it got brought up about me moving up there with her. I went for it, and never looked back.
so it's January 1st, 2013, I'm 30 years old and I'm moving up to the Boston area to start over again in a new relationship. One that wasn't a feeder! I made sure of it this time. I flat out told her about my past and that if she was I couldn't be with her since my new life was focused on losing weight. That dream about my mom really scared the shit out of me. It's not February, 2013 and something is seeming off with the girlfriend. she's getting distance from me like my ex wife. This time I don't snoop and I flat out ask her what's up. Told her I wasn't liking the distance between us. She told me that she was having mixed feelings and that she is craving girls again. She told me before she was bi, but I didn't mind. So I suggested that maybe we open up the relationship, which would allow her to explore her girl side some and get some poontang of her own. So we agreed to do that, but we had some rules. I told her she couldn't do anything with any exes because that's just going to bring back lovey dovey feelings. She assured she wouldn't do anything with any ex girlfriends and anybody that she does explore with will be new and only a fling. She wouldn't go back for seconds with anybody.
It's now September, 2013 and she tells me that she's still in love with her ex girlfriend who she has been seeing these past few months. My heart sank because I knew this would happen, but tried to salvage the relationship. For some reason this one hurt more than the ex wife. I don't know why. I wanted to run away, and that's exactly what I did. I asked her if I could stay until November to save up some money and move out and she agreed. So when November came I wanted to get away as far I could from the east coast. My buddy in Seattle offered me a room to rent from him out there. So I sold everything I had worth any value and bought an Amtrak ticket to Seattle. I went from Boston to Toledo, OH. Stayed with a friend there that I met on Facebook a long time ago for a few days, got a wham bam thank you mam from her while I was there as a pity fuck, basically. The best head I ever had. Seriously. She was 15 years older than me, no fucks given. Then went from Toledo, OH to Seattle. All in all it took me 79 hours on the train in travelling time. It was the best season to travel the train too. The foliage was beautiful!
For the first 5 months, Seattle life was awesome. I was on a main road with a bus route on it. So I could take the bus into downtown and check out the iconic places like Pike Place Market, The Space Needle, etc etc. I wasn't trapped, but then the landlord sold the house on us, and decided to move us into another one of his apartments. Which was cool, at least he switched us over without having to get another security deposit or changing rent or anything.
This new place sucks so much ass for a fat person. We are seriously up on this huge ass hill, and I can't walk up the hill without feeling like my heart if going to jump out of my chest. I made it up one time and passed out up top of the hill, that was the last time I attempted the hill. So I'm stuck up on this damn hill. The bus routes are at the bottom of the hill. So if I want to go anywhere I have to use Uber, which I can't afford.
The last 9 months of my life I have been an emotional wreck. I'm crying all the time, it's bullshit. I haven't cried since my mom died, why am I crying so much now? I don't understand it. I'm going through a major bout of depression and have been doing nothing but eating my life away at the top of a hill. These last 9 months I have gained back 135 pounds. I'm now 575 again, and I feel like shit. It's sad, because food is my drug, and I can't escape it like a drug addict can. You need food to survive, and I can't control my eating anymore. It's a vicious cycle, you eat because you're depressed, and you're depressed because you're eating.
At the end of my lease in March I'm moving to Nebraska because it's so cheap there. I can get a 1 bedroom for 400 a month. Hell, there is an apartment I'm looking at that will go by my income that only old people and SSI people can get into. They charge you 30% of your income, which is awesome because that will help me be able to live more freely and breath. Right now I'm barely surviving off of $700 a month. You know how hard it is to survive off of $700 a month in Seattle? Extremely hard! By the time my rent is paid and my cellphone is paid, I'm left with $25, and that is used to take Uber to the grocery store twice a month. I survive off of $175 of food stamps, if I didn't get them I would be fucked.
I also had another dream the other day about my mom. She came to me again and told me that she warned me to change my life. I'm not scared this time. If death is what is coming to me, then so be it. I'm ready to move on to the other side. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suicidal or anything, as my stance on suicide has changed since my teenage suicide attempt, but I'm not afraid of death. I'm not going to let the fear of death make me worry. It's not worth it. If it's my time, then it's my time. Take me!
Feel free to AMA if you wish, I'm an open book. Pick my brain!
