Gambling / Dicing Bot - Need Help Coding - Scripting Help ...

Recently i've heard of a person trying to transfer their name from their currently unused RS3 account onto their OSRS account as its 2 separate characters. During the transfer process, he double-name changed his RS3 account, and within seconds attempted to secure the name on their OSRS character, only to then find out a low level bot, literally created to snipe the name anytime, and as soon as it was released managed to get it before him.
Jagex is able to justify having a gambling hub ingame, the literal home of rwters and scammers. Yet they wont release a simple service to prevent people from losing their accounts to these bots?
Come on jagex, you could to better. I even have a simple idea to fix your issue:
When changing a name (through the website only) you could prompt players with the question: 'would you like to add a code to this name' What it would do is: add a random 8-12character code to the name for 1 hour, for the next hour anyone who wants to claim that name will get prompted with 'insert code to redeem name' so they could apply that name to their account. If unused within the hour, the name will become available for anyone to grab, as to prevent name-hoarding in codes, rather than on accounts.
This simple method would literally prevent any name from being sniped by an unwanted third party. Name-scams while trading and whatnot are another issue. But you've got a gambling hub ingame where bigger scams happen so this is really a non-issue, not worthy of keeping this from being implemented.
TL;DR. Jagex, implement simple methods that could prevent issues down the road, this is such a simple thing to add...

GE spam and scamming on unrestricted worlds shouldn't be normalized. Jagex needs to put the effort and resources in to make the GE less miserable. Here's what they could do.

It's been going on for years. A quarter of the players at the GE on a regular world are spamming the same thing over and over again. Gambling bots, teletab scammers, sceptre lurers, and Youtube/Twitch phishers. These guys are still operating because they're successful on some level, either scamming people constantly or at the very least filling chat windows with autotyped garbage. This has to be an annoying and shitty experience for new players at the least, and a crushing and discouraging one at worst. I refuse to believe that detection software is missing things as blatant as this, but even if these scams are agile enough to dodge the bots constantly, Jagex has a system in place that is more agile than that: Playermods.
A human-based moderation system, while inherently fallible, is able to keep ahead of things as basic as gambling and scripted scambots. Currently, the playermod system is outdated and obsolete. Pmods get no game-related incentive to become Pmods, let alone do any moderation. Many of them just want to play the game, which is perfectly reasonable, but the scarcity of Pmods and the elitism that accompanies the role isn't doing anything to benefit the community. To help fix this flaccid, valueless system, I would suggest the following:
(1.) Cull currently inactive Pmods or those consistently just doing the bare minimum.
(2.) Identify key experienced and active Pmods to help oversee and contribute to the system.
(3.) Increase the quantity of those with moderation capabilities, while also increasing the potential impact of mod actions.
My proposal for this is that moderators are available at any time to issue temporary mutes, but the mute will increase to permanent until appealed if more than one moderator issues a mute in a given short period. Having more Pmods increases the likelihood that there are multiple in a given location, especially at key areas like the GE, ZMI, etc.
(4.) Ditch the chat icons in Public in favor of PM'd and covert warnings.
This is especially critical to let Pmods play the game without being harassed, and also to prevent more subtle power abuse. Bots will also not be able to hop the second the crown appears in chat, giving the mods a larger action window.
(5.) Add cosmetic rewards for confirmed "correct" mod actions in large quantities.
Which would likely disappear upon loss of permissions or extended inactivity.
(6.) Stand up a chat server somewhere for questions or mod support.
Not for casual discussion. General channels in servers like this start spinning up brigades or toxic behavior.
Yes, all of this requires effort and resources to be implemented, but if the problem really isn't effectively scriptable by Jagex, then human intervention is the next best thing. Someone is always willing to give their time on the internet for free. Jagex is already leveraging that concept right this moment, but the system they're using it in is weak, ineffective, and is long overdue to be reworked.
TL;DR: Make the most populated areas of OSRS less shitty and full of scamming. Fix the playermod system if Jagex can't do it themselves.

Wham bam spam

Hello everyone. I'm a long time player of OSRS. Like many, I played as a teenager, leaving shortly after the move to RS3 and only returning a couple of years ago, when I heard about OSRS making a comeback.
I love this game. I am deadly serious when I say that clicking on the same thing for 3 hours at a time brings me a huge amount of satisfaction. Many an adventure I have had in Gielinor and hope to begin an Ironman once I max this account.
But of course, there has to be a reason to post on Reddit. To suggest otherwise would be insane.
In recent months, the Grand Exchange has changed. Twisted. Morphed, into the very thing that myself and doubtless, many others, log in to Runescape to escape. What is that,you ask?
It's not Runecraft; don't be silly. It's chat spam.
Every other line of text you see in chat whilst stood at the Grand Exchange or similiar hotspot is a bot spamming something. Be it clan chat advertisements, anti-lure bulletins, gambling bots, level 40s with max cash who pay big for all items, you name it, there's a robot with a megaphone screaming it in your ear while you clean your dirty herbs. Those dirty, dirty herbs.
I hear many things about the issue. The main one of them being that it would be commercially unviable for Jagex to implement anti-bot measures.
Now, before we go completely off the deep end and start training Runecraft, there is something to be said for clan chat advertisements. I can almost see the appeal for new players to be able to find clans. Having said that, there are so many spambots in the game now that it is becoming difficult to even speak to other players through chat. I believe that I speak for many when I say that enough is enough.
I am by no means a tech wizard. But I do have at least an above-average experience with coding. Here's what I propose:

Allocate more server resources to a new chat moderation system. Perhaps one or two decent size servers. Some people can definitely tell you which.
Use said resources to implement a rule whereby player messages are stored in temporary memory; let's say, for up to 30 seconds to a minute.
Implement code that checks new player messages against the temporarily stored messages and mute any that are say, repeated more than 3 or 4 times in the above timeframe.
Use in-game chat messages to remind players that trigger the new spam filter of rules against spamming. Repeated breaches could result in account muting, bans, all the tough stuff.

You can't tell me that the OSRS system cannot ever support something like this. If it is capable of storing messages for long enough to facilitate in-game communication, then it is capable of something like what I have suggested.
Never mind new content creation. There is a huge amount of content in the game already. There needs to be something done about this and soon. If I have missed some kind of blog-post about an update like this, then you can suck it up and read my post anyway because we have to deal with this every time we log in. And we pay for the privilege.
I heard somewhere that for every customer that complains about a service, there are 10 more who simply stop using that service and instead give negative reviews of it to their friends.
I can't even complain about this to Jagex in person. I have to post it on here and hope. I mean come on. Do you want your company to stay afloat?
The game is worth tens of millions of dollars. Get some more servers and stop the spambots so we can all get back to enjoying the game. Please.

I logged on and gave whatever I had left to a random noob for my last day as an OSRS player but I'll always be a fan [Eulogy]

It was aroung 20.5mil in gold and items, random noob, it was whatever, and it was on my last day as member and the last time I'll ever play this game. I've played this game repeatedly over the years, since I was 13 off and on in short periods til I was 29, great game, good fun, but now it's a garbage bin full of botters, scammers, and some sort of new stereotype I dont know how to describe? I'd say chads but cunts is more fitting. Apparently this game takes huge amounts of skill to do what they do, you know, staking at the arena being MLG hardcore, PvP in the Wilderness with their made-up Gangs lol ... They literally try threatening people to pay them or else they'll never get to kill wilderness bosses. Makes me audibly gag that this is where this game is currently at. It makes me laugh because this is where the game is at now.
There's egotistical ass-hats and wannabe gangsters on this game. That makes me laugh. It's oldschool runescape you socially inept twats. It takes literally Z-e-r-o skill to play this game, you're not good at it, nobody can be good at this game, all you have to know is what to do. Everything in this game has a guide, you're hand-held like a baby since the first day you play to the last. Literally anyone can do GWD bosses, Raids, Wilderness Bosses, literally anything in this game is achieveable, there are literal 7 year olds on this game. Tribriding? Yeah? That takes skill? I would love to see a sheet of all the players who do it, then I would like to see how many use scripts and how many of you memorized the switches and actually do it the vanilla way. It's not even hard to learn.
Also, since when has this entire game been centric around edgy gambling? Do any of you know how pathetic and lame you look to most of your viewers when you stream it? Nobody is in there because they care about your gambling habits, they're most likely, actually... they're all 100% there for the giveaways, nobody cares about young adults struggling with their gambling habits that they're watching you develop. It's sad dude, it's pathetic it's even a thing on a game like this. I understand it, I see why you enjoy it but... you glorify these people like they're heroes of the game or something? What? Lol seeing a 15 year old kid stream this game, freaking out, cussing and crying and begging for 'donations' to continue this bad habit that will most likely spill into this adult life is something people on this game enjoy. The only streamer for this game who actually matters is Odablock, and he is your God, your Idol to most of you. Think about that.
Anyways, if you've read up until this point I salute you because I had nothing but negative shit to say about this game, good stuff, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut lets face the facts ... This game is on its last breath. This whole Leagues this is pretty corny and lame and its such a niche E-Sport (If you can even call it that) that it wont ever catch on to the mass crowd for gaming, they're fun to watch for all of ... about 5 minutes then you're bored. The commentators are cool, for about 5 minutes, then you're bored. The finals are cool, that's it. The whole argument about RWT'ers needing money to feed their families is bullshit, fuck them and and their governments that failed them, it isn't my responsibility and its sad as fuck they forced that responsibility into this game and now other games. They slowly killed everything about this game for a lot of people.
Literally every fucking server, all the time, has a bot trying to scam people, dice bots, trading bots, bots for everything in this game. I swear 80% of the people I see in game are botting at this point, it's like microing for starcraft players to the botters, they have like 50-100 on at all times, it's chaos, and JageX does nothing about it. They don't ban people that need to be banned. Their customer support team is actual garbage and you're always a possible victim to being hacked, they cant manage the traffic of bots, refused any feedback from the community about fixing it over the years and never once did anything to try and stop it. The only reason why I can imagine is that they are paying JageX fees to continue their operations. Thats my conspiracy theory tho.
And to close this chapter once and for all I just want to say I sincerely will not give any fucks about any negative shit any of you have to say about me in defense of a game that is literally dookie. Wake up. You're just feeding the problems at this point. Fan of what this game used to be, hate what its become. Rest in pieces of shit with pieces of shit, OSRS.

By the wall, I mean like how Cerb and Kraken cannot be endlessly farmed unless you have infinite points.
Runelite doesn't show Shaman Kcs but I swear each world is full with the same people there for weeks, months, eons! You can see the DWH was 38m before but was way higher before it was farmed forever but it's rising now but I do not think Shamans should be farmed

Talking about things that people are farming let's talk about Zalcano.

When I grinded Zalcano I could do about 10 games an hour with 3-5 and that's what most people do. I have gotten an estimation of 100 kills equalling between 10m-14m gp including crystal shards. Now I don't have receipts but people are farming the crap out of Zalcano and most likely real-world trading the gold. Why arent accounts being banned here and how have they continued for so long. I have screenshotted names I saw and most worlds have 1-3 people that have 10k+ kills that's 1k hours and many that have over 20k+ kills.

I'm sure you get the point of the names and they have maxed out mining of course and high runecrafting from the game. Let's put this in perspective 25k kills in today's economy come out to 3.5b gp not including getting the tool seeds. Now that might not be much but just hop through the different worlds there are hundreds of accounts that are clearly hand played but RWT Gold. Many might ask why there are so many skills done? Well, it takes a lot of skills to do the Song OF The Elves quest. Also, these accounts are hand played with the goal of coming to Zalcano.

Not to throw shade at PMOD but either the guidelines that Jagex has set towards them is incorrect or they are LAZY. It was just today that someone was legit scamming people and we found a Pmod in ge and asked him if he could mute them. The response we got was that the Pmod was an ironman and therefore couldn't trade so he couldn't be scammed so there wouldn't be any evidence for him to justify a mute.

I know Pmods are not Jmods but they accepted the responsibility to help out and it just seems like many are enjoying the crown while doing nothing to combat the gambling accounts, scammers, and other nonsense that goes on.

But seriously why is it that RS3 can fight off the hordes of bots to the point that there are none left but Osrs cannot do the same. Let's make skilling profitable again! Hell, let's make pvm more profitable again. I can only speak for myself but as someone who owns a decently high total lvl skiller its always triggered me that skilling is pretty much horrible gp. Unless you do birdhouses which are clearly botted and you could do farming too I guess. I just want way fewer bots it really makes me sad to see so many bots (without hair).

So as you all know Runescape has grown to be one of the most popular mmorgp games with an incredibly stable player base and the game is growing and generating new players everyday, but there's a dark side to it.It's actually more serious than that, people are playing this game just to make money, RWT, coding bot scripts, trading away rsgp for subs (2k Andy with 10k+ subs) won't say his name, we have "players" that have scammed loads of people and cashed out big time. I feel like the majority of the old generation plays just to make money, where did the fun go? Jagex why are you so blind towards this? Bots are okay but why should people exploit the game to make loads and loads of money? Let me bring you an example, if we look at one of the biggest osrs communities, a twitch streamer by the name of odablock, remember when he was in debt? How did he get rid of his debt which was 250b+? The answer is his whole community are rwters, they exploit the game to fill up their own pockets they don't care about anyone, and this brings me to my next question, isn't there anything fishy with someone having 2-3k active viewers but getting 15k+ subs every month? I'm not bashing on odablock because I think he's a legit guy, totally well deserved, putting up hard worke etc, I honestly think that some of the biggest rwters are feeding him in a way that Jagex is totally unaware of, this tactic involves odablock handling these rwters money and in return they give away 10,20,50 and even 100 subs to the guy, MUST BE SOME KIND OF MONEY LAUNDERING. so it's basically a win-win situation. Yet again I'm not hating but I just want to expose people that think they can outsmart the rest of the community and I would love to let them taste a little bit of punishment (bans, freeze their income). RWT is illegal yet people are exploiting it so much and it makes my nerves boil up because at this moment thieves and gamblers are "winning" just because of the community being unaware or jagex being too "lazy". Jagex have shown in the past that they can go in hard and we've had a trade limit that worked well actually.
So again jagex why aren't you doing anything towards this? Remove duel arena and let people go do the fuck they want outside of Runescape, let them fucking gamble outside, this game is filled with rwters and I'm not gonna say botters because everyone already knows this but yeah. This shit would never be possible is Jagex staff were a little bit tougher and actually did something towards this, that's why I also think they are corrupt, the mods/staff are making a bit amount of money on the side so it's like a double edged sword. I'm not mad because people make money, but just pissed that they break the rules and get away with it. come on Jagex grow some fucking balls will you.
Implement a trade limit above 100M per week. Go hard on osrs gambling communities, RWT websites, black market websites, shut them all down because you know there are people making a shit load of money handling those businesses. And these people could be the worst people, not saying they are but there is a possibility they could be, then you're part of their side and your supporting their "hustle". I'm afraid to say this but if this continues who knows, this game might be under the hands of a bunch of thugs and criminals in the future.
Just do something because it's getting out of control.

Does Jagex even care anymore?

PSA Use the Runelite Chat Filter to filter out all of the annoying spam bots you encounter in the game.

As many of you are aware, there are thousands of bots that stand around spamming everything from scams, to lures, to annoying advertisements.
I've found that many people do not realize that Runelite has a decent filter built into the client that is able to handle many of these spammers.
First enable the chat filter in Runelite
Then open up the filter list and set the filter type to 'Remove Message'.
Finally in the Filtered Regex box add in phrases that you wish to be filtered..
This box accepts Regex or Regular Expressions which when set up properly can filter out significant amounts of spam. If you do not know how to write Regex, you can also just type in phrases that you commonly see to filter them out.
Hopefully this can help reduce spam for everyone at the GE a bit.

I feel as though Barbarian Assault is one of the most important minigames in OSRS due to the reward item we all know and love, the Fighter Torso. However, obtaining the Torso is often such a hassle, that many players overlook or put off the minigame for long periods. The time commitment and level of stress often is so great that people would rather pay unruly amounts of GP to leech services to quickly power their way through the minigame and reap its rewards.
The reason this minigame is so "difficult" is because the majority of players, simply put, don't know what they're doing. So what happens when you don't have the GP to pay leech clans, or don't like the monopoly of it, or simply want to earn the rewards yourself but feel as though you can't because finding a team is a nightmare?
We're here to try and change that, to bring new light to the Barbarian Outpost. When you understand the basics of the minigame, you not only are able to obtain your rewards quickly, but the minigame itself becomes quite enjoyable, and running it become much less of a time commitment as you and your team become more competent in your roles.
We are not and do not claim to be as experienced as leech clans are in BA knowledge and gameplay so if you are trying to achieve your BA goals perfectly and quickly every time they can certainly do that for you, feel free to go pay them.
Otherwise, if you don't want to spend your gold on something that can be done for free and/or don't want to spend an ungodly amount of time obtaining rewards, then stick around. We're here to help you achieve those same BA goals in a much more timely manner than you would on your own, as well as teach you how to play so that you can get your Fighter Torso, and ultimately enjoy the minigame for what it is, enough to keep playing far past completing your achievement diaries, we want you to Gamble those points away for the most prized possession, the Pet Penance Queen!
tl;dr This is NOT a leech service, this is a new community I'd like to build up to help teach people how to play Barbarian Assault, so they can obtain all of their BA rewards in a timely manner in a completely FREE way.

Unpopular opinion: OSRS is a total mess and micro-transactions don't need to be added to ruin whatever integrity is left of the game

edit: I am not in support of micro-transactions. However I am saying that they do not need to be added for the integrity that many people claim mtx to threaten to be ruined. It has already long been ruined.
So this is someone who has been playing RS since 2005. I've been through every era of RS and quite often people have told me OSRS has been the best game overall. I couldn't disagree. I think Jagex as a company are communicating better than they ever did in the past (albeit, still not the best) but the whole game state as a whole at the minute has to do with the player-base and wider community.
Back in the day you had gold selling, which you used to get banned for even buying. These days you never receive a ban for buying gold, never. And arguably selling you get away with it most of the time. You did have power levelling, but really it was another risk as it was generally only chinese companies offering it and bans were still very much possible. Even these problems were miniscule, as RS thrived and everybody was too young and naive to say any different.
However now, in the supposed "golden age" of RS, we now have 3rd party clients which make the game easy scape, we have even additional clients that support plugins that can do macros such as prayer flicking and auto gear switching, devaluing pvp and pvm bosses. Then you have the whole wider range of gold buying and selling, which happens more than ever. Jagex stated in 2011 that half the players bought gold - i'd wager that statistic is even higher now. Just look up somebody's stats in OSRS and see they have all buyables done but 75-80 slayer, or they have BIS gear. It's very easy to tell if someone buys gold or not. Yes you can "merch" and "flip" but tell me, what's easier, working minimum wage for 20m an hour or spend months flipping to make a few 100m?
That's not to mention all of these services discords and bots, gambling bots that all exist in the game. A kid can just throw a couple of hundred dollars and save hundreds of hours on a 99. OSRS has been long ruined in total honesty, any integrity has been long lost in regards to achievements. And there's no real way to fix it either, sure Jagex can ban, but sellers will just do the same thing they did for inferno capes, do it through teamviewer and get away with it.
tldr: I love OSRS, but the game is a joke and is now p2w because of the wider community and jagex's inability to take action.
